Austin Community College ADN Fall 2020

Published

This is getting real and I'm eager for someone to be nervous with. I'm waiting for them to announce the Fall 2019 HESI, and am worried I'll drop the ball on something. Let's make a community here!

That’s awesome. Congratulations! Where were one apply, if interested?
TIA

I went through a recruiter but I heard today that a coworker is leaving so I figured a posting would be popping up soon! You can also check out Seton patient care tech positions on Google. I’ll keep an eye out about the NICU position, but I work at Dell Children’s but honestly all the Seton hospitals are great connections! So look for patient care tech positions. When I get back to work this week I’ll message you and see when exactly a posting for NICU will appear!

This is random guys but something I realized that is helping me even though I haven’t started nursing school is I currently work at a Level 4 Neonatal ICU as a patient care tech!! They have part time options etc if you’re wanting to work while in school. But the biggest thing I’ve gotten out of this job is I’ve had two job “offers” from two different unit managers for when I graduate. The connections are amazing!! So if anyone wants to apply I think we might be having a position open if not on my unit then definitely on PICU! The skills I’ve learned on the job helped me ACE my nursing skills class and have prepared me I think for nursing school.

OK end of random comment! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

The techs in my level 1 cohort are having such an easier time compared to everyone else! It's great experience!

I've been trying to get a PCT job in the NICU since last fall. Would you mind letting me know if a position opens? I'm currently in level 1 at CEC and want to be in the NICU when I graduate.

I got accepted with a C in AP I, plus 2 Bs.

I got As in everything else.

A friend of mine in the program had grades similar to mine and she is about to graduate. I'm trying to be positive and not beat myself up about but I'm sooo nervous!!

For people in this thread that have already taken Skills who was your favorite instructors for the class???

This was the worst time, for sure. I'm glad I don't have to do it again!

I had Professor ****** at Cypress. She's lovely and ended up being my Level 1 clinical instructor too!

also don't they focus more on your grades in the science courses and the HESI score?

OMG. I have been trying to get a job as a PCT since I was 19. I'm 24 now...I will definitely be on the lookout for that.

It's an equation. You have to have a 2.7 in your nursing pre-reqs but your overall GPA is what's used to calculate.

The five review points that you'll get for applying again will boost your rank more than retaking a class. I wouldn't bother!

Have y'all thought about what campus you want when you get accepted?

Hopefully RRC! *fingers crossed*
