Austin Community College ADN Fall 2020

Published

This is getting real and I'm eager for someone to be nervous with. I'm waiting for them to announce the Fall 2019 HESI, and am worried I'll drop the ball on something. Let's make a community here!

Hi All - I gave up my seat for the fall CEC. I dropped from the mobility program last fall. I have most of the books, stethoscope, scrubs with patches (mostly small, petite pants) and a bunch of other nursing school swag that I would love to get rid of. Please contact me if you are interested. I will sell all of it for $ 300. The books I had bought off of a coworker of mine last year so many are older additions, not all. chiara.corey @ gmail.com if you're interested.

CONGRATS to you all and best of luck!

Looking at the book list. Is it OK to get ebooks? I hate lugging around big books.

Specializes in NICU hopeful!.

That's all I use. You can find most of them on libgen.

OK, great. So I shouldn't waste 500 bucks on new books. I think I saw your link for libgen in the past posts. I will check that out. Thank you!

I have a question for y'all!  I didn't get in for Spring but have reapplied for fall.  My husband and I have been talking a lot about how we will manage being on 1 income for 2 years.  He is super nervous about it.  We talked about me doing the evening/ weekend LVN program instead so I could work through school.  I really almost registered for the TEAS test (to get into the program) today but then I thought...no, I took all those pre-recs, I took nursing skills and ethics, and I want to see this through with the ADN program.  My question is, is it at all possible to work while you're in the program?  Even if I could work a part time job to pay for tuition that would help immensely.  I just can't give up my goal of going through the ADN program after all the work I've put in.

Yes it is possible to work and do school. It’s challenging but possible. I work full time (3 12 hour shifts) first semester I worked nights. This semester I am still working full time but my job is working with me that I work one night and then weekends 11a-11p . But you could always work weekends. And yes I have a 4 yr old on top of that and 2 dogs and a husband so it’s possible it’s all about prioritizing and scheduling it and giving yourself time to study and do homework . But there are several others that work part time  as well. Some full time.

I work part time as well. Definitely apply for scholarships or look into Capital Idea. I am a career scholar at ACC and my tuition is completely paid for. If you have kids (as I do), ACC support center will help you pay for childcare.
