I'm a Fall 2010 applicant at ACC and thought it would be nice for all the Fall 2010 hopefuls to have our own thread to share exciting news, information, and support with each other.
I turned in my application last Friday (Dec. 18th) after taking the HESI exam. I feel good about my scores but I anticipate competition for the Fall spots is going to be quite fierce. After that large applicant pool for Spring I think we will see a lot of re-applicants applying with the 5 extra re-application points. Not sure what that will mean for the ranking scores but it will be interesting to see . . .
Good luck to all the Fall 2010 applicants!
I agree that it wouldn't be fair to count 1105 - but then again, taking apps starting on the 15th when the HESI was on the 18th wasn't particularly fair, either (in my humble opinion). I sort of want to call and ask but I get the feeling the office is a little busy today.
I'm also secretly pleased that your coworker's GPA is only a 3.0 - and I don't even know him!! So that makes me at least as demented as you, if not more so. I hope we all get in for Fall so we can be lunatics together. :)
Good Luck to All of You.
I am just starting my last semester (Level 4) of the ADN program. I started in Fall 2008. I will be an RN in May. I did this as a single mom with 6 kids, only 4 at home now. If I can do this so can you! You will go through 8 reams of paper and 8 printer cartridges every semester. Definitely keep refilling the ink cartridges, I go to Walgreen's for mine. You will study like crazy and your GPA will be down the tubes anyway. I had a 3.8 and a BS in Molecular Biology and 8 years experience as a genetic engineer, and this program KILLED my GPA. You will make great friends because you will be thrilled just to pass!
Okay I got my email at 8:24 pm! Are they really there working that late?? So I got my hybrid class! Yay! My boss is going to freak when I tell her that I have to take 4 hours off every wednesday for school again. Oh well!!
Taffy - glad to hear you are in your last semester. I remember reading on here when you had first been accepted. It is great to see you on here again!

I see what you're saying but I honestly don't think the Nursing Skills counts towards any ranking formula. It wouldn't be fair for them to multiple their GPAs x 11 instead of the normal x 10 for having all the pre and co-reqs done. Does that make sense? ACC is already generous enough towards re-applicants for giving them the extra 5 points.
I was working Seton this weekend and I was talking with another Clinical Assistant who is applying for Fall also and he was telling me that he had a friend who applied with a 4.0, 10 on the HESI, and all the pre and co-reqs done and she got turned down the first time. I don't know whether to believe that or not because I don't know him that well. I just don't see how that is possible really. Like I said, I would've called his bluff but I don't know him well enough to call him out. I was a little pleased when he said he had gotten a "C" in his last pre-req Physiology and that he was applying with barely a 3.0. See how demeted I have gotten!!!
