I'm a Fall 2010 applicant at ACC and thought it would be nice for all the Fall 2010 hopefuls to have our own thread to share exciting news, information, and support with each other.
I turned in my application last Friday (Dec. 18th) after taking the HESI exam. I feel good about my scores but I anticipate competition for the Fall spots is going to be quite fierce. After that large applicant pool for Spring I think we will see a lot of re-applicants applying with the 5 extra re-application points. Not sure what that will mean for the ranking scores but it will be interesting to see . . .
Good luck to all the Fall 2010 applicants!
That is a great question, Purkinje! I hadn't even considered that re-applicants may get the additional five points plus the benefit of having their GPA weighted by a factor of 11 classes (with Nursing Skills) vs. the original 10 classes (pre & co-requisites).
Oh - don't even get me started on ranking point obsession. I had a spreadsheet made up with almost every possible scenario - depending on grades, HESI score, etc. I'm pleased with my ranking score but it isn't a perfect 56.
I've been doing my best to only focus on my piece of the Pre-Nursing/Application puzzle until now . . . but now I have crossed over and I'm starting to obsess a bit about how all the other pieces (ie applicants) will affect the possibility of starting in Fall 2010.
Time will tell . . .

Check your e-mail and the Adn web page everyone!! I couldn't sleep so I got up early and it seems they've posted some updates. If you have a 48 or above they want you to e-mail them so they can evaluate your score. This (should) mean you're getting a petition. Part of me wonders if somehow 48 will be the lowest accepted, but I'm sure it is way to early to think this way.
I sent them an email too! I am crossing my fingers I will be able to get the online class!! I got an "Out of Office" reply back from my email. Haha!
I wouldn't set your minds on 47 being the lowest rank.....they did this the last few semester where they start low, then as more people do their HESI, they raise the rank to register for Nursing Skills.
I think they also keep in mind that some of the people released to take 1105 won't be ranked high enough for their first application, but they let them take the class so they'll be all set for their second application. I forget the cutoff for 1105 for the last round, but I feel like it was something like 46 or 45. That's why I was so surprised the cutoff for admission was 51!
Sent my request in too . . . same out of office response.
I agree with Radiation - I wouldn't read much into the 47 ranking point cut-off (good or bad). Back in September, 2009 they released petitions to anyone who had submitted applications with a ranking score of 46 or above. My guess is they selected a number based on a sampling of applications for people who have not taken the Nursing Skills yet. Of course, this doesn't include re-applicants who have already taken RNSG 1105, many who have 54+ points.
It's the journey, not merely the destination - right?
My fingers are still crossed for all of us!

Radiation -- 1105 won't count for our ranking scores for Fall. What I'm wondering is how it worked out for the Spring applicants who took 1105 in the summer. Because if that wasn't included in their rankings calculations the first time they applied, it has the potential to really boost them beyond just the 5 points for reapplying. Going from 10 classes completed to 11 will boost a score considerably -- I'm just wondering if they had that boost included in their when they first applied, or are getting it now on the reapplication.
sh1121 - I have no idea! I hope it's today, I'm on pins and needles. :)

I hope tomorrow is petition day! My spring is up in the air until I get the RSNG 1105 class pinned down. (I'm taking an online course that has two meetings on Wednesdays, so I'll have to drop that if I get stuck in a Wednesday evening section of 1105.)
I assume we just get the email notification, and we're then able to register online like any other class, right?
Random question that may not make sense: most people who applied for Spring 2010 completed 1105 over the summer semester. I believe summer pre- and co-req classes were included in the final ranking for admission, because the Twitter account said that grades would be retrieved for them. Does that mean that 1105 was included as one of the "number of degree plan courses completed" in Spring 2010 ranking calculations? If that's the case, it seems like the Spring 2010 applicants would've had one ranking score when they applied before the summer semester and then another (probably higher) ranking score after taking 1105 over the summer.
In case y'all couldn't tell, I've descended into total obsession at this point.
Edit: I crossposted with you, GG. I'm so worried about those reapplicants. My ranking score seems pretty decent until I start thinking about everyone whose rank includes those 5 points -- and they've completed 11 degree plan courses, not 10!
