Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

Just to get this clear.. Should the HSC certifications be completed before the orientation?

Yes I would try to. You can get them done at ceufast.com i think thats the site. the earlier the less stress u have especially since we still have to get the background checks and physicals and titers too

You can do everything now so it is done. Better to get everything done sooner. I think it was like 3 weeks? But you start now. .. Don't wait. The big thing a lot of people didn't do was titers. You had to do those.

For the fundamentals book. .. Those are 2 different books. Both are useful and everyone will tell you to buy those.

As far as taking the pharm asks math. .. The only people taking only those classes got kicked out of or dropped process 1. I think they make a few exceptions once in a while but everyone is taking them at the same time. It isn't bad.

That's exactly what I want to do, but I don't know where to start. We have so much to do.. Thanks for the site.

I just have to do the background check, titers and physical. Under step 5: Broward College - Health Sciences Admissions are these the forms they will be giving out at the orientation? If so, can I just print them from here so I can get everything over with?

They don't give them to you. .. You go print them yourselves. Most people had them done all of this before orientation. Just one less thing to worry about.

I would recommend ceufast.com for the HSC courses as well, I hear it's about 30 bucks and I wish I did it there instead of BC. I had a Pell Grant and when I signed up for the courses they were automatically paid for. BUT, a couple weeks after I completed the courses and received my certificates I saw that I owed the school $155.31, I was like what the **** (I was mad); too bad I had to pay it in order to retake my HESI. The lady in the cashiers office said that pell grants were no longer paying for certificate based courses so it was removed SMH, that put me back because it was so unexpected. I just sucked it up and paid it because I HAD to retake the HESI and get the scores in as soon as possible.

Just use ceufast.com and save yourself some cash!! SMH

Congratulations to all that were accepted into the August 2014 Nursing Program. I was accepted as well, and said I must join this thread! I was going to attend Central Campus but I've heard so many negative things about Central. North Campus would be a long drive. Anyone heard anything negative about South Campus Nursing program? Just curious, thanks.

WHAT! I took my last ceu this summer and didnt have to pay anything. Matter of fact ALL my CEU'S were done at broward and paid for with financial aid. Double check that info, u could be due a refund

They also paid for mine, all of them...

Hey B.Moore

As far as campuses go, every.last.one.of.them, has a horror story attached. Different peoples experiences at different campus's. I wouldnt even make a decision about where I get instruction based on that. Some of the professors on all three campus's are either gone, or shuffled around, so there is no "One Campus" thats the holy grail for smooth sailing. They all bust your hump and take no excuses. Be more concerned about study techniques, study groups, clinical practices, and following what the instructors say to a TEE. If you do that you should be fine regardless of which campus you attend.

Thanks! That's what I figured. You just helped verify it. It's going to be hard work but worth it in the end! Oh and to join in the chat about CEU's,financial aid paid for my CEU's, I just hope I don't owe later!
