Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

Central Campus... I was told this is the hardest campus :sniff: but it's the closest to where I live.

Yeah hopefully we will be classmates that would be cool. That is such a RELIEF to know we can use a calculator. Because the math is basic i havent even studied any of that. Im focusing on The anatomy using the quizlet and one of the study guides from the library and vocab. Campus wise, it'll be Central for me since i know the campus like the back of my hand and its close to home. I have a friend who is a nurse and graduated from the North Campus, which is supposedly the easier one, and she said it was just as tough as all the other campus's. They started with i think 80 to 100 in her class up there and a staggering 20 of them actually made it through. I think it could have been less than 20 ill ask her again, but its so competitive! You not only have to watch the professor and follow their EVERY WORD, you have to watch out for some classmates.

Ive heard other students would do things like hide someones steth before a clinical (if they were doing well or better than them) or other stupid crap so that they could either get a better chance scholarships or favor with the instructor. It seems worse than med school!

In any case i dont plan on letting anyone get in my way regardless of campus. A few committed classmates for study group, head in the books, and thats it, lol

Im actually about to begin studying now. I want to take the test at the end of the month so that I have plenty of time to get all the other things done. People are deferring their seats from the May program so the earlier the better chance you can get in.

Thank you for the response. I wish you the best of luck in the exam!! Let us all know how it went when you take it. Why is it that people are deferring their seats from the may program?

I took tge hesi at the end of March and applied into the program for August the first week of April. I used two books to study and prepare. The Elvesier Hesi admission assessment guide and McGraw Hill Hesi practice tests. The Elvesier assessment guide is very close to the actual entrance exam. I got a 91.6% average in all areas. I scored 92% on anatomy, math, grammar, 94 in vocabulary and 86 in reading because I got too tired of reading a so many articles. I just wanted the exam to be over at that point. Its 4 hours long with no breaks......not even bathroom breaks.

Thank you for the response. For the Anatomy portion of the exam was it basic or did it go into detail?

For one girl it was family stuff, for others i have no idea. I can only guess cause the summer term is shorter. I hope not too many people defer, cause that'll take away potential seats from new applicants

So I may have to start jan 2015 since I was taking this anatomy 1 course elsewhere and is higher level. At BC the course required is a 2000 level course, the one I was enrolled in (I dropped it after finding out BC doesn't recognize it) was a 3000 level. Starting anatomy 1 over summer soon. Hopefully I have some recognition and have no issues.

I actually plan to go to north as well. I hope they don't pull any of those foolish stunts though

Ive never heard of that before but I hope you can get it soon. See if you can take the courses in two summer sessions. Its more condensed but doable if you want to try for August
