August 2014 for Broward College

Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

I will be applying for August. I tried the Hesi without studying and missed the A&P section by 3 points :( The questions were so random. I will study this week and reschedule. I just received my shot records from a previous employer (hopefully it satisfies browards criteria)and have finished everything else. I am nervous. I was in the process of applying to Barry, Nova, FIU and FAU because I have already satisfied the pre-reqs for the traditional BSN program which Broward does not have. However, in speaking with an advisor today they highly recommended I apply to Broward (the most affordable program) and then enter the rn to bsn program which is only an additional year full time. Do we do the background check before or after you are officially admitted? I want to stay ahead of the game.

hey hanks for the reply. It seems your ahead of the game by alot! If you have so many pre-reqs done for the BSN, it should be fairly easy to get into the RN-BSN program once you graduate nursing school. As far as ive seen, you dont need to have the background stuff until after you've applied and get your admission acceptance. Im taking my hesi at the end of the month. Hope I pass the first time around. I got the hesi A2 studt guide from the library and will do some vocab testing from the online tests banks ive seen. Hopefully thatt'll be good enough!

You should call them before you retake it, it seems they are always changing things and what the website says is different from what they tell people.

Well I know that they want the hesi scores to be at least 75% per section and then whatever your average is, is what they look at. Has something else changed?

Ive heard 80 on all sections and 85 in reading. I also heard an overal 80%. Wont hurt to call and verify.

hey love, i am applying for august as well. I am currently taking anatomy 1 in hopes to take anatomy 2 over the summer along with the health career core course so that it will be complete by august. Hesi i want to get done in the next month or two. I am extremely nervous but praying for this dream to come true. I will be a nurse! I can do this!

You may want to check with an advisor about the pre-reqs again. They've been changed around a couple times.

Hi everyone, I am also planning to apply for the nursing program in August. I am so anxious and nervous about the Hesi exam. Is anyone here preparing for the exam yet, if so what materials are you using? Am freaking out because I want to take the exam by mid June, so I can have enough time to apply, but am worried that I might not have enough time to study.

Im actually about to begin studying now. I want to take the test at the end of the month so that I have plenty of time to get all the other things done. People are deferring their seats from the May program so the earlier the better chance you can get in.
