August 2014 for Broward College

Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

They may keep accepting applications until all seats are filled. Most likely they are sending out responses to those that have been waiting since spring. I applied at the end of March trying to get in for May but I was told the application window for May closed March 27th. Im not sure about the one for August though.

Oh I see. I wonder how many people they accept. I think it may be 150 based on old posts I have read on All Nurses and a conversation I had with a person who graduated from the program this past May.

Do any of you have friends that attended this nursing program?... I am just hoping for some insight. Some of the comments about how 'tough' the program makes me so nervous.

Many students got accepted but deferred for August for many reasons. May I've understood is a very difficult semester because of how short it is. At least you know your in already so you wont be nervous and anxious like us. What campus are you considering?

I didn't know they could do that... so they may tell us that we are accepted but cannot start until January???

My mom graduated from central in 2010 and I personally witnessed her cry and throw books out of frustration..it's extremely challenging but if all these people can do it so can we :]

I agree.. I know that no matter where we go it will be tough but I just want to make sure that it is possible!! I heard that Broward instructors tell nursing students that C's are the new A's in nursing... I am an A student and getting a C would be devastating to me!

Just got of the phone with North Campus and I was told that emails will be going out today. Today is the day folks. Keep checking your emails by this afternoon we should know for sure. Good luck to all of us.

:-( ugh just spoke to someone from Central a little while ago and they said 'within the next week'...I dont know if she meant this week or next week, either way I'm hoping your answer is correct lol...once again good luck to all

How many students did your mom graduate with?

I think around 30-40ish from the total she started with ..but not 100% sure

I did everything at Broward.
