Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

Here is what I found in an older BC Nursing thread:

I used a license I have to waive HCP and mine says the same thing. I called and asked. Admissions does not approve the waivers anymore and they have to be sent to the RN department for approval.

So I'm guessing they're waiting for approval from the RN department since you have your CNA license. Hope this helps, don't be nervous I'm sure you got in :)

I really hope so I've been waiting to apply since summer but I had a lot of things holding me back. I remember reading you deferred your seat are you ready for this term?

Just stay positive; keep all the negative thoughts away :)

And yes, I can't wait to start and I'm determined to have nothing hold me back this time.

Congrats!!!!! When did you turn in your application?

I turned my application in on August 4th

Thats great! And thanks for the advice I'm trying my best to stay positive

Hey Central gals and guys,

How did you fair out this week? First hospital day next week so exciting. This is the most studying I've done in a month. We are now well versed into what is expected of us in this program. Commitment, perseverance, consistency and dedication is what we need to make it through this program. Hang in there folks.

I am so nervous I am still studying for the HESi, can I submit my application without taking the HESI? Please help

FutureRN0630, you can't submit the application if anything is missing including the Hesi. For January 2015 admission, the BC is picking the students starting next week and the students picked will start to choose their schedules Oct 14 so you have to get moving because those classes fill up quickly! If I were you I would take the Hesi ASAP just to see how you do and then retake any sections you didn't do well on. But hurry! Good luck.

Yes you can submit your application without the Hesi. Just take the hesi ASAP after submitting. I submitted my application before I took the hesi and it was no problem at all

You still have time, they accept students until all seats are filled

Getting in contact with someone from the health science admissions dept is nearly impossible I tried calling and email no answer nor reply... I really don't feel like driving to one of the campuses but it looks like I may not have a choice

What a week its been! Just passed my Return Demo on the second try. Word to the wise for all the others coming in, stay on top of everything, dont slack. Use your time in the lab effectively and remember to breathe. This program is super tough, but is very doable. Keep your head up and stay out of drama and you will be fine. Tomorrow is the first hospital day and i will update on that experience! Woosah!
