Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

I really don't want to defer my seat, I could've been in the program since January if didn't decide to take Micro before getting into the program. I've been thinking A LOT about this and deferring is definitely becoming a last option.

I was looking at Ruby's Academy that @Rosegold_ mentioned and they have an HHA weekend course that'll fix perfectly into my schedule. But it didn't see a price, I'll have to call and see what their prices are. Then I was looking at Paramount and they have a weekend course for CNA for $384; had to do some research on Paramount though and I saw on a previous thread that they were legit and really good.

Thank you so much, I really like the option of working for an agency while in the program. Sacrifices will definitely have to be made because I don't need to put the program on hold any longer :) (I'm so glad I found allnurses; so many great people you can relate to and help!!)

I know that you're doing the program at North campus. Do you mind sharing some ideas about the teachers I mean which is the best in what matter?

I honestly think North has the best professors, they're all great. The current Pharm teacher Dr. Kraljevich has to be my favorite. Keep in mind none of them will take bs if you're late/unprepared. They're serious about wanting you to learn. Prof Fola and Dr. K come with a lot of funny stories, but they really drive points home. If I haaad to pick my least favorite, it would be Prof. King-Gulliver(teaches math), she's nice but a bit defensive/touchy about questions.

I dunno, I strongly(and the professors too) recommend getting prereqs out of the way before coming in. I think there's a point where you have to get it done in order to advance. You really don't want to have to make time for a difficult(for some) class when you're trying to make time to study and/or work.

I agree!! That's why I decided to take Micro before entering the program and I'm glad I did because that class was really hard for me. Many people told me I didn't need it for the program but I still wanted to get it out of the way; it really makes more sense to take the class before the program because it'll be one less thing we have to worry/stress over. I'm done with all my prereqs thankfully!!

Application in review! !!!

Awesome! When did you submit your application? My status is pre-program application.

Hello there! I, like most of u all, have been following this site for a few weeks now. Its great to read such helpful info. My question is, is it possible to take Pharmacology before entering the program? And good luck to all who's waiting for application news! =)

I am guessing you can. I never thought of that. Maybe that's what I should have done during the winter alongside microbiology.

No, you cannot take Pharmacology at BC unless you are in the Nursing program.

Two months ago lol now I'll be checking everyday for pre program admission..so anxious!

I guess I am wrong. No wonder why nobody mentioned that before. What about those students majoring in pharmacy? Perhaps trying to get an AA from Broward College... Don't they have to take Pharmacology..

It hasn't been a week since I submitted my application.. I will probably have to wait for a week or two before I find out..

when I called today, they said they are processing everyone's application and they do not expect to send out decisions before the first or second week in June.
