Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

Nelly_XoX I have a cna license I don't plan on working while in the program but if you feel that must work because you have obligations I think you can do it you just need to find a case that allows you to have time to study. For instance you need someone who spends most of their time sleeping during the day.. Too sick to leave their home/bed.

I was reading the Broward College August 2013 and found a website that might help before the first day of class. It's from North Campus and it is from last year Fall so some of the information most likely might've change but at least you will get an idea of what will be needed. Here is how you get to the link (not sure if I can copy and paste it on here). but search for "Broward College Math dosage calculations practice" and there should be a link for Nursing Process Math-Broward College.

You're welcome.

If I get into the program in the fall, will they assigned me a campus? I submitted my application at North Campus because that's where I want to go. I read from other posts about people who submitted their application at either North or Central, but they were assigned South Campus.. How does the process work?

Where you send your application doesn't matter.

When you register for classes, you pick ones at the campus you want to go to. Only thing is, you have to take all the classes for the semester at one campus; no some here and couple there. Make sure, the day registration opens up, you're on pantherweb ready to pick up the classes you want at a particular campus(each campus gives you the reference numbers for their classes).

I think you're locked to a campus after the first semester, so choose wisely.

Hmmm, okay thanks.

Thanks! I really want to do it, I'm just worried about finding a job after obtaining my CNA license :banghead: .

@Rosegold_ where did you take the training/courses for your license? I heard about Paramount, just not sure if they're legit. Was it hard finding a job after you got your license?

Nelly_XoX I did it at Ruby's Academy in Plantation and no it wasn't heard to find a job at all you just have to make sure you apply everywhere

Thanks for the info.

What do you guys think about CNAs? Since I'll just be working for the rest of the year and deferring my seat until January, should I take the training to become a CNA? I'll have to find the money but do you think it'll be worth it? Would I be able to keep the job I have now and work as a CNA? Ughh, I don't know what to do, I need opt

if you want you can take the training for HHA and work for agencies. That will give you somewhat time to study in between if you don't want to defer your seat.

I am trying not to work for the first semester maybe the financial aid money can help me cover my expenses meanwhile and believe me I know that's gonna be hard. But I have a friend you had the same issue. she wanted to defer her seat for the following semester hoping that she could have saved some money. What happened is that instead of saving the money, she ended up using it and she started the program two semesters later. So, I think you really have to think about that before doing it. Take the HHA training and work for agencies while taking the program. thats a gud option. you have to make some huge sacrifices when you wanna get to some points. Hope thats helping.

I know that you're doing the program at North campus. Do you mind sharing some ideas about the teachers I mean which is the best in what matter?
