Hi everyone,
I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?
oh wow, another student from central told me they did uniform inspections and checked their socks. Perhaps it was just the first day they did it then?
I really am not sure which instructor they had. It depends on the instructor. My experience was that they looked us over and checked for necklaces and bracelets. Wear whites in any case.
No necklaces either? Darn it, dont remember them addressing that
No necklaces, bracelets, anklets. No tongue rings. That's pretty much what they complain mostly about. Some instructors went as far as to tell some girls to remove their makeup and flat iron an Afro. That's when I don't bend. If an instructor tells you that, run to the Dean.

Wow that's overkill, thanks for the advise

Which campus are you going to? It really depends on the campus. Honestly, I don't remember there being an inspection for uniform socks. I lost my whites and actually wore black ones and nothing happened. Then again I'm at Central and they're a little more lenient.
I'm going to South. Wow. I think it is going to be more strict at South because the Dean is no tolerance.
hi, as far as the card holder, i would think so. i dont think they will be supplying anything for us.Orientation packets question is campus specific and i know about the bc module and nursing student handbook we need from the booklist, not sure which packet u mean. if your going to South, those students on here can help you better than me.
And i remember being told that our socks have to be way above our ankles. They do uniform inspections
Ok, thanks. I bought a green packet that said nursing process I on it. I guess I should just ask the bookstore people. For south campus, my professor already put up the syllabus and I believe the module is available there as well. I'll just get it as the bookstore to save ink!

You have Stauffer..Good luck lol. Jk. She's not that bad, but yes, South in general has a more stringent policy. The last day of class AFTER the final, my boyfriend and I were walking in the nursing building on the way to our car and she pointed out his cross necklace. Then again she teases him a lot. Lol
Are you guys planning on working during the program? If yes how many days? I am going to make changes to my work schedule tomorrow. Is it even possible to work, especially during the first semester?[/quote']I know a lot of people put in their two week notice and some who've dropped to two days a week. I personally put in my notice because there is gonna be too much time in school between clinical, lecture, mandatory lab time, and practicing skills not to mention serious study time and study groups, i couldn't find the time available to work. However that choice is as always based on your own personal needs and ability.
