August 2014 for Broward College

Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

This is REALLY good to hear, like Nelly said I hope Soth Campus math class is set up like this too that would give us more than enough time to study!!! we have to wait until August 22 for our orientation, by then our nerves will be kicking in because classes will be starting 3 days later!!! I'm sooooo READYYYY to start!!!

Hey !!! Im so upset I had to miss orientation .. Could you send me a screen shot or email of the syllabus to [email protected] I can send you my phone number via email as well if thats easier .. The book list .. was it the exact same as the one in the orientation packet or did they say you didn't need a certain book or we needed them all .. thank you so much !!! hopefully were in the same class and I can buy you coffee or whatever for helping me out . :)

Been reading the clinical information for both school and the hospital and omg, between the labs and all the requirements I might as well plan on being in school everyday till the Security guard kicks me out. Therese this thing called a Patient Profile we have to do at the beginning of every shift, i cant go into detail but geez louise, the work is never ending! If its not done we cant see our pts and are sent home for the day. Yikes. Im excited though so cheers to us all! We made it.
i want to hear more about the clinicals and labs I think I maybe a little confused but I won't press for more details lol I'll just wait until AUGUST 22!!!

I may just cave in and purchase the book off Amazon.. They have a Text and Study guide package for $130.33 (I have Amazon Prime)!

I'm thinking the same thing as well...I have the 7th edition I really want to compare it to the 8th edition before I buy the book out of pocket (I don't mind buying it with f.aid lol)

lol its cool. What i did not realize until just now is that we have to do school lab days from 7:30AM to 7:30PM. I thought that was for the hospital only!!

Lol, I also have the 7th edition. I'm waiting for my financial aid to come through but it's taking FOREVER and I'm so impatient; I want to start reading now!! I have access to the 8th edition online but I can't read online textbooks, I don't retain the information AT ALL. I need a physical copy of the book in front of me. I was comparing the 7th edition and 8th edition (Vital Signs chapter) and the beginning of the chapter was verbatim. I didn't go through the whole chapter, but there was some diagrams in the 8th edition that wasn't in the 7th edition so I want the updated version to be on the safe side!

lol I feel the same way I don't do well with online books! my classes are paid for just waiting on the book advance to kick in...I just got in contact with the bookstore and was told we can start purchasing books August 11 (Monday).I think I'll just read the one I have and start back working on my math problems until then!

Does Fundamentals book on Amazon have the CD and online code?

I actually bought two books on accident. The bundle package has the hardcover book, study guide and cd rom, But it's the last edition... Does anyone want it? I can sell it for $20 ( I paid $23 for it, I will eat the $3 lol) email me: [email protected]

see thats what I was trying to figure out...the way the dean at the s.campus explained it to me was...we basically have to practice on each other for the first half of the class (labs) and once the prof. say we are ready then we start our hospital rounds (clinicals)...I hope I'm saying it right and I was also trying to figure out during those times do we have to be to class at 6:30 am but I noticed you said 7:30 am
