Hi everyone,
I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?
Awe im sorry i totally forgot. I know about the living off pennies believe me, im a one person household now cause i recently quit the summer job i had. All the drs appointments were already effecting my work schedule and they were giving me the side eye when i told them it was for school. Im sure itll work out in the end for us all though. Sacrifices now will pay off greatly in 18 months
Yesssss I cannot wait to start the rest of my life already. Need a career so I can get married, Have kids and b happily ever after. I'll eat off the dollar menu as long as I need to lol.

lol no dollar menu, thats not healthy! I plan on making my meals for the week ahead of time so i can pack it with my million lbs of books. i figure its time to start being healthier too if ill be preaching to the choir lmao. And yeah been waiting to start this career for a loooong time too. Were gonna kick butt!
I think I am going to rent all of my books. I'll end up spending less than $150. It could be a good strategy especially when money is tight. What do you guys think?[/quote']where will u rent them? i saw amazon has a program but so does our bookstore now, i guess money wise it would be smart!
Amen!! Everyone keeps telling me to "just get a part time job" while I'm in the program. They really don't understand how tough the Nursing program is SMH!! If it was that easy I wouldn't be quitting my darn job!
I'm gonna see how this semester goes and if I feel as though I can fit a part time job in my schedule then I'll get one.

It's a good idea, I've done it in the past using Amazon and Chegg and it really is a cheaper way to go! I'm not going to do it this time because I will be writing in my textbooks: highlighting side notes EVERYTHING lol so I will definitely need my personal copies and I want to keep them for future references (NCLEX).
Barnes and nobles. I am not sure if all the books I will need will be eligible for renting. It could be even easier since they bought BC's bookstore.
Yeah what u can do is to go to your schedule online and there should be a button to purchase books on the top. When u click that, it opens a bookstore with the books for our classes and i think most of them can be rented. i clicked around but i think they mail your books to you, but id rather pick them up so i can jump in.

Yes we are ! I'm jk! Lol. I'm a health freak. But it's also pricey. I do meal prep now and will try to keep up with it.
