Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on allnurses for years, and finally am finishing up school to move forward for my Associates at Broward. Unfortunately, they have totally thrown a monkey wrench in the pre-req requirements, and now I'm going to have to wait until Jan 2015 possibly to get into that program!!!!! I have all pre res done except for the new math, CHM and new Micro pre-req. This is devastating. I'm wondering though, is it possible to take the Micro and Lab in the summer and somehow slip in for the August 2014 program, or am i bananas?

Check in your email. South Campus sent an email with a link to BC online. Once you sign in, there are different tabs on there including the Orientation Packet and the book list for the Nursing Program.

thanks alot I've been checking but nothing I'll contact the campus today

Is your Orientation that day because you are doing the LPN transition?

No, It is not the LPN transition. This is just the Pre-Admission Session. We have to go to this one because we applied late. I applied early but my application was on hold until I finished the Core Course.

Thanks, should we wear uniform?

I will bring mine just in case but the email didn't say to wear them.

You don't wear the uniform to the Pre-Admission orientation. You will wear the uniform at the second orientation.

I emailed Nichole about registering for classes. She said: [COLOR=#1f497d]No, you cannot register for Nursing courses until you attend pre-admissions and are told what reference numbers to register for.

I just spoke with dean Johnson from central campus and she states:

"You do not have to wear your uniform for the nursing orientation on July 17th. You should dress appropriately, no shorts, tube tops etc.

Yes since CE Fast gives only 1 hour you need to take infection control and barrier precautions to make up the difference. You can take the online at Broward College and you will be covered. HSXC 0552 Reference #484648."

For all who were wondering. Ceufast is the cheapest route but you have to do an extra ce course to have equivalent amount of credits as the school requirements.

I've only completed the online background check. I need to find the lowest prices for these shots, my pockets are so not ready for this :banghead:

I've researched cvs, walgreens, the health department and the clinics and the cheapest one is drs 365. I paid 99 for my mmr,ppd and varicella. I'm not doing the hep b til later and it's 90 for the shots, and 50 for the titer. They are also pretty fast too.

So with the finger printing 60 plus 99 for titers and the eventual 46 for the urine that's 205. I have insurance and it made no difference because none of the above accepts insurance for titers or immunizations....sucks

Quick question, I am heading for my drug testing. If I can remember correctly, they will bill mybc account whatever I have to pay? Anything else I should know?

Nichole says that the drug screen will be $30 and it takes about 2-4 weeks for it to show up on your mybc account.

Yeah they will bill the urine to the account. I can't think of anything else really except not to open the envelope the fingerprinting place gives u for the school
