hi, anyone of you here joined the open house today and was able to fill in an application? after filling out, they gave me this envelope with some papers about the pharm bok review, etc.. as i was reading it, it says, we'll gonna have ourselves scheduled for the pharm exam.
QUESTION:
do we have to wait a call from them (if chosen)?
this does not guarantee that you are hired right?
please enlighten me..thanks =)
goodluck to us =)
Also not only do they want 2 years hospital experience but they also want it in the specific department...ie if you did medsurg 2 years you would not qualify for ICU, if you did Mother/Baby for 2 years you would not qualify for NICU. So even having experience does not open that many doors, if you did not start in ICU cannot get into ICU unless you get lucky and your own hospital transfers you in.
I hope this is not a trend. I started out in med-surg/tele in the hopes that I could get strong clinical experience to eventually move into ICU or ER. I don't want to be stuck in med-surg for the rest of my career. And transitioning into some critical care areas at my hospital is either difficult or not desirable for personal reasons. I think the only option is to move on to another facility and hope to transition there.

Good Morning,
Spoke to the nursing admin lady this morning. They will call you for your pharm exam, as the background checks come back. They will gradually schedule people over the next two weeks so they do not have an overload of people taking the exam at the same time. Give it a few days. I am sure they have to go through a lot of peoples paperwork. Just try to get your references to complete their part asap.
Hey everyone...did NYHQ put up another event that you all attended? I check the career events page religiously and must have missed this...or did you all sign up for this event a while ago? I'm confused how everyone became aware of the open house. Any information that could be provided is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

When I received the call, I had 2 references pending for completion. They have since been completed.
