Please list in order your preference among these private nursing schools offering the ADN degree. If possible please state one/two reasons(eg reputation, cost, placement etc ).Your help is highly appreciated.
Beth Israel
Long Island College Hospital
St Vincents Catholic(Queens)
Hopfer School
Cochran School.
ps: just in case I don't make it to one of these schools,I might want to consider a LPN program.Any idea how much a new LPN grad makes in NYC metro area?

Hi
I am looking to apply to three of these schools. For myself I would rank them in this order.
Dorothy Hopfer
Cochran
For BI , all I have heard are great praises for this school. I did some research and this school would be the perfect fit for me. Other factors are location, schedualing and degree options, ie Two year tradition, atop, three year or evening. What I get from BI is that they really look at each applicant as a whole every thing you hand in and also the test score counts and is looked at.
Dorothy , and cochran are also another excellent options for me. I also chose them for the location and schedualing options. Dorothy accepts students in the fall and spring , so does cochran.
Hope I covered all you asked.

:specs:Hi,
I graduated last year from St Vincent's, it was a great experience, small school, affordable. It is very competitive though, only 50 students are accepted per semester out of 1,000 or more applicants. Best of Luck.

HI, I am a current 3rd semester student at Hopfer. I applied to both Hopfer and Cochran, and I choose Hopfer because of the attention I received while I was applying. Cochran made me feel like just another number. Their programs are basically the same. Beth Isreal seems to be good, I have not met anyone who attended this program, but see nothing but praise on this board for the school. St. Vincent's is comparable to all of these schools, but they do not offer an evening program. The advantage of these schools is that they are affiliated with a hospital so it is probably easier to get a job once you pass the NCLEX. It sounds like you made the right choice for you. Good Luck!
Just want to let everyone know that St Vincent's now offers an evening program!:w00t:

Yes they do. A friend of mine applied there. Its a longer program than the day curriculum and I think she said that the requirements are a little different as far as what classes need to be completed before starting.
That is good to know! They are a great school, I will get the word out to friends who are still looking. Thanks!

I attend Cochran and the school is great. So I would highly recommend it as well as BI, & St. Vincent's. I got into Hopfer & heard it was good to. I'd apply to them all & see wher you get in.
