hello again,
i attended two schools for my BSN.
1 and half in one school then transferred 1 and half to another school.
My question is (with regards to CES's request for academic records):
should i request it to the school that i graduated only? or should i also request it to my previous nursing school?
because I am pretty sure that the school where i graduated from has all the transcript records from my previous school, as it has been forwarded to them from the day I transferred.
The request for schools attended has never been changed to whether or not the nurse is a second courser. Requirements have always been the same. If you have graduated from high school in the past ten years, then they need the required documents from there. It is only waived when graduation is more than ten years ago.
And the requirement for any schooling states that they want a listing for all professional schools that you have attended. And they want the list, not just where you graduated from. If the transcripts are included on the final one, then great. But the issue is that you must list all of the schools, that is what they are asking for.
And if you do not know the specific date of something, then phone the school and find out. You are responsible for providing all information that they are asking for, you should not wait for the school to give them that information. They are asking you for the verification and that is what you need to give them, or you can be delayed for months, on top of the average 8 month wait for the CVS.
All information that you submit with this is the same that needs to be included on your documents for immigration. They must match up.
Hi, just request TOR from the nursing school, if they ask for the other schools, then that's the time you need to request again. I'm second courser too. CGFNS only asked for my TOR from the nursing school but a group of friends were asked for the TOR of their previous courses, that was last 2005. Maybe it depends on the evaluator, I just don't know now if it is mandatory to submit TOR from all courses taken.
For the CVS, all must be listed. Then it is up to them to decide if they want to get the additional information. But you never want to leave it off of anything. It can delay you getting to the US.
It would be advisable to provide CGFNS with all the necessary info, send them all pertinent docs at once and let CGFNS decide which they will need among your submittal. That way you'll avoid undue delay in the evaluation of your requirements, considering that much time is lost in communicating with CGFNS especially thru ground mail.
Not to burst any one's bubble but if this is the case already then it would really take very long for the CVS process to be completed. You may ask some of those who did CVS and how long it was and this was the time when they accepted the integrated TORs, so waiting for all other schools to respond and send the mail will make it longer (theoretically).
You may do a search in the Int'l forum from 1-2 years ago and you will see many foreign nurses complaining how about long the CVS was taking them and again this was when they weren't so strict yet. Some who even applied for endorsement to NY coming from NJ (and they are fully licensed and working there legally) abandoning the process and either stick it out w/ NJ or endorsing to another close by State, such as PA and all the while they haven't heard anything from NY or even if they did they have already successfully endorsed to another State.
Of course there will be those that will have everything completed in 6-8 mos. time and this is considered relatively fast already for CVS but don't be surprised if it will take longer than that.
I see. Thanks sir Lawrence01! Waiting might not be an issue, as long as it gets the job done.
Isn't there a CGFNS office here in the Philippines? If so, do they not know the educational system here especially those regarding transcripts/educational records?

Yup that is right, but with the CVS, you don't send the documents, you just authorize them to get it(for you/your file with NY BON).
Perhaps I'll have to bring this matter up with DECS/CHED so that "tracking" would be easier and that they'd provide solution to concerns like this one.
Better if CGFNS had direct access to DECS and CHED so that they could do the proper documentation and verification with regards to CVS, after all, records are being submitted to these institutions by all schools(hence no more running around for them and that would mean "efficiency").
