Atlantic Tech - HELP!!!

Published

.. So I decided on going to Atlantic Tech Center - Coconut Creek, FL:yeah:.. Am I correct in saying that process is TABE (already passed:bowingpur), then the LPN Orientation (where u receive ur LPN packet), take the TEAS:chair:, then Health Core class?!???! Or do u submit ur application with required documents before the Health Core Class??!!?..

:DAll replies are appreciated:D!

SpencerFLA,

I had a question for you as well. How many times are you able to take the TABE and TEAS? What scores are needed for each, to be accepted into the LPN Program. Like stated I passed the TABE but my friend that took the TABE at the same time I did, didn't. She was told she may have to take a VPI (remediation) course?! But we both were wondering would she be able to attempt it again.. All responses are welcome. Thanks, in advance.

I'm not sure on that one. I believe the TEAS can be taken 3 times per year (don't quote me). As far as the TEAS, you have to score in the 40th percentile in each category. The bright side, if you pass everything but one section, you can retake just that section. When you go for the orientation, they give you a packet with FAQ's on the TEAS. I don't have my TABE info with me so I don't have the specifics on that one. I "think" I remember reading that if you don't pass the TABE, you were to meet with a counselor and discuss your options, which included a remedial course.

Sorry I don't have the specifics

Thanks SpencerFLA that info helps alot. Good Luck and congratulations on getting in!

.. .Lol, that is quite ok! I agree with MsMiami, you r very informative, SpencerFLA.. In fact, my question just prompts another post.. You can never have to many.. . Once again, Congrats on making in the LPN Program, I wish you all great success!

Thanks guys! Good luck to both of you!!

Hey Spencer,

I hope you are not sick of me asking questions but I have another one for you. Is it possible to get any of the test like drug screening, background, immunizations, physical done ahead of time. I just want to get as much completed before the orientation since I have a while. I didnt know if they had forms for everything I am assuming for the drug screen but I didnt know for the rest. Thanks I dont mean to be a pest. Just anxious.:coollook:

MSMiami,

Ask away, I'm happy to help any way I can. Unfortunately you are required to use the forms they give you in orientation. Now, I guess it depends on your relationship with your doctor. I knew which immunizations I needed so I made the appt with her to get those and get a lab test to show immunity. I made my appointment the next day after the orientation for her to fill out the form and just did my drug test and background in the same day. Now, my doc didn't have the MMR shot, so I had to go to the health department and wait 2 hours to get it. You probably have already had it, but I'm old :)

I'm currently registering too for Jan '10, I'm excited! I'm trying to get all my paperwork completed. I asked them if having an arrest record would be a problem (something dumb I did when I was 18, don't know why I had to wait to be dumb when I was of legal age, haha), they clarified that having a conviction may be a problem but plenty of people have an arrest record and I would probably just need to provide more information after my background check comes back "Not Clear". I'm just wondering if anyone else went through this and what you had to provide or if it became an issue, I just don't want anything to get in the way of me going to school!'

Also, were the immunizations a pain to get? Did you get them all at once or what? I'm thinking I had most of them done but do some expire?

I am not sure on the arrest issue. So I can't help ya on that one. The immunizations weren't that bad. Just frustrating that my doc didn't have the one I needed and had to go to the health dept. I wasn't sure how long they were good for so my doc did a lab test to check and then gave me what I needed.

I am beyond excited. I have my books already and have been browsing through them. Lol

SpencerFLA

Thanks for the immunization update.

Do you know if the Oct class is full?
