Hi just wondering if anyone has applied to Morristown's/Overlook's residency for May 2020 graduates. Or if anyone has information on the interview/hiring process?
@@Libbby Yes I am external and got an interview for a position Hire Learner Med Surg/Ortho (its not the New grad Hire Learner pool one its a separate listing). They never contacted me for the pool to ask my preferences, etc so I figured I'd apply and they did reach out. They set up a Skype interview with me and then actually gave me an offer the same day. I sadly can't take it for lots of reasons but mostly because my family doesn't want me to move from home right now. I was so thrilled-- you really should apply to it separate from the pool if you are interested because its the only thing they contacted me for!!
Haven't taken the NCLEX. They said its only listed as per diem because you get no benefits like health insurance etc but its full time hours (3, 12hr shifts/wk). She said I would be guaranteed full time hours. They also said the Hire Learner pay is 36$/hr but with nights you get closer to 38$/hr and then after your 1st year you become full time with benefits and I'm assuming different pay. ALSO she brought up the topic of getting a temporary graduate nurse license...seemed like they wanted someone ASAP.
I called HR and talked to them last week and basically someone new took over the residency and she's a bit confused LOL internal candidates get priority and she said they already hired 30 of them so she has to see how many more open spots they have. She did say I'll have a better chance if I don't mind starting as a PCT but since I have a BSN they would pay around the $26 area. She forwarded my resume to the hiring managers so we will see. More hospitals opened up residency apps in jersey so I've just been applying to all of them
Hi! I just heard back from the residency program at AHS. I scheduled a call with the recruiter about areas of interests and was wondering if you guys know what specialties new grads are allowed into? I'm really interested to get into the NICU or ICU. Also if you're currently in the residency program, how has it been with COVID?
Hi All!
I know this thread is several months old but I am a nursing student who will be graduating in a few months and really want to take advantage of a nursing residency program. I have 5-years of experience as an MA and I want to be able to secure a job possibly prior to getting my NCLEX. Also, I am currently in an ADN program.
My goal is to get my NCLEX several weeks after graduation but I have been dreaming of applying to AHS New Hire Residency Program.
My question to all is do they hire without the NCLEX and if so, what is the waiting period?
Also ? does anyone know about different residency programs also? I have heard about Hackensack Meridian but that's just about it?
TIA!
@nursemetanoia._96 They gave me a job offer before I took the NCLEX. I declined the offer for a few reasons (mostly geography related) so I'm not sure how long they would wait for you to have it. The Valley Hospital has a residency too I think but I never applied. Also to the above comment @nurse.dani. It was really unclear what positions they have for new grad residency-at least to me. I applied to and interviewed for a specific floor (ortho). Not sure what else they offer but I've heard of new grads in their ER so maybe ICU is possible. Good luck both of you!!
