@nursemetanoia._96 They gave me a job offer before I took the NCLEX. I declined the offer for a few reasons (mostly geography related) so I'm not sure how long they would wait for you to have it. The Valley Hospital has a residency too I think but I never applied. Also to the above comment @nurse.dani. It was really unclear what positions they have for new grad residency-at least to me. I applied to and interviewed for a specific floor (ortho). Not sure what else they offer but I've heard of new grads in their ER so maybe ICU is possible. Good luck both of you!!

Hi everyone! I just discovered the GEMS new graduate residency program at Stamford Hospital in CT yesterday and applied. I was wondering if anyone else has applied for the July/August cohort and heard anything? I'm worried I'm late to the game but it looks like such a great program I want to look into where they're at in the application process. I had started applying to jobs in March but CT was not on my radar until now sadly. Please let me know!! ?

Haven't taken the NCLEX. They said its only listed as per diem because you get no benefits like health insurance etc but its full time hours (3, 12hr shifts/wk). She said I would be guaranteed full time hours. They also said the Hire Learner pay is 36$/hr but with nights you get closer to 38$/hr and then after your 1st year you become full time with benefits and I'm assuming different pay. ALSO she brought up the topic of getting a temporary graduate nurse license...seemed like they wanted someone ASAP.

@@Libbby Yes I am external and got an interview for a position Hire Learner Med Surg/Ortho (its not the New grad Hire Learner pool one its a separate listing). They never contacted me for the pool to ask my preferences, etc so I figured I'd apply and they did reach out. They set up a Skype interview with me and then actually gave me an offer the same day. I sadly can't take it for lots of reasons but mostly because my family doesn't want me to move from home right now. I was so thrilled-- you really should apply to it separate from the pool if you are interested because its the only thing they contacted me for!!

CONGRATS on a job!! That is so exciting. It's so discouraging to have all these delays/unknowns with the residency but hopefully this will work out for us all. Good luck!!

Also- what floor was your friend on? I'm curious if the residency mostly offers med/surg type jobs or if specialities are available?

WOW! thank you SO MUCH for all the detailed information. That was so nice of you to type all of it out to help me understand a little more about the program. I really appreciate it I feel kind of behind because I originally was only looking in Hoboken/Jersey City but expanded my search and now am seriously hoping I can get this residency because it sounds so great! Still no call today but I'm trying to keep calm I'm sure there's lots of applicants to get through! Thank you again I'll update if I hear any info from my end! Good luck to you too?

Hi all- I applied just last week and haven't heard anything. I was wondering if anyone knew if we were accepted when we would start/how long orientation is etc I searched all over online and couldn't find any details.
