Does your wife know all the little statistical tricks that goes along with this type of test? For example, when you don't absolutely know the answer to questions, always answer the same answer for each question you don't know? There are other little hints that I can pass along, just PM me, and I will let you know.

Yes, I do have experience with the ATI Tests, and I HATE :banghead: them. We are required to pass an ATI for each nursing clinical we have, plus our pharmacology class. I can't stand the things. It doesn't matter whether we have A's in all of our classes or not, it is the ATI that decides whether you go on to the next semester.

This is also what our school requires!

Intuition can you contact me by email. I am not sure what the heck pm is. I am new to this site and do not have alot of time to devote to figuring it out. We haave some questions for you. Maybe you can help us out.

Thanks

We hope you enjoy the site.

We just got our first set of ATI books and cd's yesterday. We sat through a presentation by their rep while we were waiting to take our 2nd fundamentals test...talk about nerve wracking!!:crying2: The program didn't sound bad when he presented it, but the more I read about it on here the less I like the sound of it.

We took the Critical Thinking Assessment as a pretest. I thought it was kind of silly, but I guess a lot of my classmates had trouble with it. If the program helps them pass the NCLEX, then I guess it will be worth it. It just seems like one more straw on the already overloaded camel's back.

We just moved from ERI to ATI. Atleast ATI has study materials to go with it. We get to take the practice tests as often as we need before the proctered test. I am up for anything that will help prepare me to take the NCLEX. Our school decided this semester that you had to pass the ATI to get your diploma. They had to do it to please the BON here. Too many students were barely scraping by then not passing the NCLEX.

I have to take ATI testing for my program here in Georgia. I'm not sure how it works for second-year (I'm just starting), but for first year, our ATI test grade counted as 10% of our semester grade.

I agree, some people make excellent nurses, even though they are bad test takers. I'm lucky, I do OK on tests, but I see some of my classmates, who excel in the clinical setting, struggle in the classroom.

I wish there was another way to establish whether or not someone would be a good nurse besides tests, but that's not how the system works. The entire structure of nursing school/ATI testing, etc is modelled after the NCLEX. A test is what ultimately determines who gets to practice as a nurse, and who doesn't, so it makes some sense for the educational system to be based on tests, also.

Our program is in VA and while they do give us the ATI materials we are not required to pass in order to continue in the program. We have a Proctored med/surg ATI this semester and a comprehensive ATI test before we graduate next semester. Other than predicting how we may do on the NCLEX the materials are optional for us to use.

YES!!!! I took my final ATI yesterday....the comprehensive one, and passed!!! We had to get above a 62, i got a 78. Im so glad thats all over, now just looking ahead to my boards. Good luck every one, the trick to the ati's are not to read to much into the questions.

ATI gives you no test taking strategies. Better buying the Saunders review book.

The ATI books give a break down of the curriculum. Then the questions at the back of each chapter only reinforce that you know basic knowledge of the curriculum. When you take the exam you have to figure out everything on your own. They basically miss the whole point of being a preparation course for the NCLEX.

Any help would be appreciated.

fyrball,

if you go into my results on the atitesting.com site, there are some tests that allow you to create custom remediation with the questions you are getting wrong. It's all the column in the right. There will be a CREATE link. The RN Comprehensive, Adult Med/Surg and Pharmacology have it available. It puts together audio clips and pdfs of the material from the questions you missed so you can study it all in one spot. it's actually pretty cool and you can figure out the actual question you missed.

i hope that helps.

We also have to do the ATI testing at the end of each semester and the RN predictor at the end of the final semester. I think if you get a 76 on the predictor, you are 95% likely to pass the NCLEX on the first try.

We also have to pass all of the ATI's to graduate, and we get two free trys, then we have to pay for any trys after that.

So far, I've personally had good experience with them, I haven't had to repeat any of them. They've got pretty good practice tests and they will tell you your weak points before you go in to take the 'real' one.

I just hope the questions are real representations of the NCLEX and it isn't all just a waste. We got all these books to read to study for the ATI's, I haven't used a single one... now that is definitely a waste of paper.
