ATI testing in our school

has anyone heard of this company?? http://www.atitesting.com/ it is a company that many schools now use to help students preparing for the nclex. proctored and non-proctored exams are given. in some ways they help but it never fails that the ati focus never matches our course content!

now, i am in my last semester of nursing school our program has decided in the last 5 weeks of school, we take a proctored test that is scored comparing us to others nationally, not scoring individually, and if you don't pass on the second try.... you fail that entire semester and have to wait one year to finish 5 weeks of school!!

i now had over 1800 pages of their ati books to review while trying to learn and finish content in my last semester!!

if anyone who is on here or knows of someone else who's school uses ati...please let me know of how your program uses it an if anyone else is basically being asked to take there nclex before they graduate!!

everyone in my program is stressed beyond words!

We are taking our first test Thursday. It is more of a learning assessment so we don't need to study, but at the end of the semester ( I'm in 1st sem) we will take another one to see how prepared we are for the PN NCLEX.

but not pass or fail in the final semester right....where do you go to school??

No, I don't think it affects our grades at all. It is more for the teachers to see how the group learns best, whether it be visual, auditory etc. That is how I perceived it anyways. They did say that we will be able to access it to to do practice NCLEX format and such. I am in Madison, WI.

 This is our first semester for ATI at our school. I don't think it will be too bad, but then again....who knows. We have to take testing at the end of the semester and if we score within the 60th percentile we get 5 bonus points for the class. If we do not score within the 60th percent then we have to take remedial testing online until we score 100%. I hope it goes okay but I am a bit apprehensive.:uhoh21: :uhoh21:

I am in my first semester and we take ATI. This semester we take on on Fundamentals and Pharmacology. We take the proctored exam and we have to score a 60 or better. If we do not then we have to study and take the non-proctored exam and score at least a 90. If we do not remediate and score a 90 then we can not take our final and will fail the semester or class. It seems harsh but when you take the non-proctored exam it is on your own time at home and you can use your notes and books. For each semester we will take the ATI that corresponds with what we are studying. In the last semester we will have to take the NCLEX ATI. It really is a good learning tool. It sucks that they did not give you guys more time to prepare. I hope everything works out you and good luck on your last semester.

We take the AtI where i go...it's a pretty good indicator of whether or not you are on the right track to pass NCLEX. The book helps for the ATI and I use it to study for my tests because it's great for review and cuts down on reading time. In fact, med surg reading is so lengthy, most of my studing is out of the book that comes from ATI.

I graduated in Dec and we had to take the ATI NLCEX predictor in order to graduate. Needless to say everyone was, well just as you explain. But in all honesty it wasn't bad. I can say that now having done it. I did not study ATI books, just did some of their non-proctored tests online. I continued to study my Saunders through-out my last semster. When I sat for it I thought it was very hard and I thought Oh my god I am failing this thing. But I did great! In fact everyone in my entire graduating class did. Your score on the thing sounds low when you print it off but then when it is explained to you you find out you actually did pretty good. My score was 72.8% which equalled out to a 99% predicted possibility of passing the NCLEX the first time.

So although it is hard, just put it aside and concentrate on what you are learning right now. Use your NCLEX books to study for exams and at the end of the semester when you take this ATI, you will be impressed with how well you do. :)

Sunshine Sweetheart For each semester we will take the ATI that corresponds with what we are studying

This is our biggest problem....our content DOESNT correspond with our ATI tests....when we did Peds/OB we had the content AFTER the test!! I dont mind doing them its just this pass or fail....even when we have made it thru!:imbar

We use ATI at my school. We got a book and DVD for each content (OB, Med-Surg, etc). How they do it at my school is that we are required to do atleast 125 questions (non-proctored) per rotation and it has to be done before the end of the rotation. In addition to that we also have to take a proctored exam at school at the end of the rotation. We too have to take this proctored exam at the end of the program. It doesnt stop us for graduating, but they will not send the letter to the state if they feel we are not prepared. on top of ATI questions, they provided us with a Lippincott NCLEX book (5000+ questions). We should also practice from that too. Before we take the NCLEX, we should have done atleast 5000 questions including reading each and every rationale.

When taking the ATI i find that not everything matches what we are doing in school or what we have done. Somethings i didnt even learn about. So when doing the questions i take my time and use books to help (of course this is only for nonproctored). you are more likely to remember things when you can research and find out what things mean. You must also understand. If you dont understand ask your instructor.

When determining your predictability of passing, they use national scoring. So if you get 70 that doesnt mean you wont pass. That could mean that you are in the 99th percentile, compared to others. They use a whole bunch of statistics to figure these numbers out. But this is not for you to worry about. Try to focus on your studies. It is a lot to consume. Sometimes i feel like i am all over the place. But you just have to find a way to try and organize things the best you can. And most importantly, make sure you get rest. Bring brain dead wont help you at all no matter how much you keep reading. Hope this helped.

We use ATI at my school, and I guess I'm in the minority there because I really like these tests. I have always been able to really well. We must get in the 50th percentile or better on all the ATI tests in order to be able to graudate. In fact, I am taking the last one tonight!! We also got the DVDs with the books, but to be honest the only thing i have ever done to prepare for them was to take the practice exams. I have already sold all my ATI books on eBay, I thought they were a waste of money. Our instructors never refrenced them and we never used them. Good luck to you!!:)

our ati counts as 5% of the final grade, in the last quarter if you get below 60 you are required to take the nclex refresher course before you graduate. I've always done really well because we take them at the end of the quarter after we have covered to information.

I'd sure like to get my hands on a 5000 question review book, i'll have to check into that!
