Does anyone know how accurate these predictions are? Supposedly, if you get over a 70% on this test, you have a 99% chance of passing the NCLEX-RN. Any opinions on this?
I took the ATI comprehensive and scored 73% which gave me a 93% chance of passing NCLEX on the first try. Took it in 75 questions and passed. I have to say though that I HATE ATI. Our school paid for all of us to have the 4 day Live Review and I can't imagine a worse waste of money - they sent ladies to our school who couldn't work their power point and made so many mistakes - the one told us to limit fluids for diabetes insipidus if you can believe that... Anyway, just my 2 cents - I don't trust what they say, have known girls who had high 90's% of passing NCLEX who failed on first try and one girl who got a 50% chance who passed with flying colors -
Personally I say don't worry about all that stuff, in the end NCLEX is unpredictable - if I had gotten all OB/Peds questions I'm sure I would have failed even with my 93% chance of passing...

And you'll encounter patients who have never smoked who have lung cancer, and others who smoked every day until they were really old without developing cancer, too. The ATI Predictor doesn't say "yes, you will pass the NCLEX if you get 90% or higher, because that's like an A." It says that for everyone with score x there are x people out of 100 who pass the NCLEX on the first try, and 100-x people who fail. Your classmates who failed just fit into the second group--the 100-x group.
That said, I too am someone skeptical about the reliability of the test as I haven't seen ATI's methodology and data. And I'm right there with you about failing if I were to get all OB/Peds questions. :uhoh21: Or maybe not, I seem to do OK on the practice questions there, but only through guessing based on my limited knowledge.
Unfortunately, I'm still waiting (rather impatiently) for my authorization to test. I'm eager to just get it over with so I can start making more money, darn it. I'm willing to take my chance of being the 1 dude out of 100 with my score who doesn't pass.
Good luck to all taking the NCLEX soon.
According to the ATI Comp Predictor, I had a 99% chance of passing the NCLEX-RN on the first try. I passed the first time with 75 questions. I think the Predictor test is just one indication of whether or not someone will pass the NCLEX. There are so many other things that factor in such as ability to think critically, level of test anxiety, etc.

This was also the Proctored, which was set up just like the NCLEX, I know there are two - the non-proctored (which you can do on your own computers, and we had to get a 100% on these before we were allowed to do the procotred exams in the computer lab) I do think that it helped in terms of decreasing my anxiety a little when I went into the exam.
