Ok so I'm in third quarter of nursing school and have to take my fundamental and OB ATI's at the end of this quarter. I was wondering if anyone past or present lpn students out there had to take ATI tests at your school? I know most schools around here do the hesi exams but my school hasnt switched over yet. they are suppose to in the next year or so. I took mental health ATI last quarter, but mental health comes easy to me. I was wondering if anyone out there has taken these exams and passed and if so, how did you study for them? they give us practice codes for the online practice tests, the ati books, and cd's, but was wondering if anyone did anything different? does the ati website offer any pracitce assessments that would have different questions on them other than the questions that are on the practice tests school has given me? sorry to be so long winded..this is my first break from studying since 5 this evening! thanks!

Hi Shelbee,
The school I attended had ATI exams. If you passed the mental health I doubt seriously you will have any problem with your upcoming OB and fundamental exam. We lost a lot of students from our class due to their not passing the ATI's. They didn't seem to understand that ATI's were a percentage of our grade. But frankly these students didn't put a lot of time into studying for the "regular classwork" and made pretty low grades. Therefore, when they failed ATI they failed period.
I took the practice exams online and also used my ATI books (as much as was possible with ALL the other reading lol). If you are studying on a regular basis... and it sounds like you are... you will do fine :).
Good luck and have a great day!

Hello Shelbee and Pegasus
Do your guys have a book or CD for ATI's... My school will start in April... I wonder if I can have that book so I can read ahead before the school start. Thku
you can purchase the ati books, online assessments, and cd's online at www.atitesting.com

Your ATI's count as part of your grade??? For my school at the end of each class we take the ATI and based on our profiency level 1, 2, or 3, you get those points added to your final exam grade which is 20% of the class grade. So if you got an 89 for the final and received a 3 for profiency level your final exam grade will now be a 92. This has helped me a lot in maintaining my A average. I just took my peds and maternity ATI's today and they were pretty scary but I ended up doing pretty well on them. To prepare I would recomend looking over the ATI books and your class notes and in my opinon you should be okay.

Can anyone tell me if the tests are always taken on the computer? If not, any idea how long the results take to come through? Thank you so much.
We always took ours on computers in the library with our instructor proctoring. You had the results as soon as you finished the test. I am not sure if it is that way for everyone though.
Have a great evening!

My program uses the ATI exams also. We always take them on the computer and have the results immediately. The best way we have found to study for them is using an NCLEX study guide. I had several questions on my ATIs that were the same as the questions in my Saunder's book.

We are taking the ATI's right now for 2nd semester. Pedi, OB, Fundamental's, and Pharm. It hasnt been easy but so far I have passed with above 80's. What I am doing is reading the books. NOT YOUR TEXT BOOK!! Your text books and ATI will NOT match up and its gets confusing. Choose your answer in the order that you would if you were doing an assessment, too. If someone is taking digoxin and is complaining of nausea, what would be your priority? Give dry toast or take apical pulse? Both are right but you would do the pulse first, form a plan, then evaluate. A LOT of the questions are like that.
When you get your codes, start taking the test and try not to memorize the answers. I know it is human nature to, but you will get more out of it if you dont. Hope it helps!
