my rn school in northern ky makes us do ati. the books might be helpful; the dvds do not go into enough information; they just breeze over the material. however, we must self-study ati & pass to go on to the next quarter. (that's another drama for another post!)
i just purchased the saunders 4th ed comprehensive review at borders ($49 minus a 20% coupon; if you are in nsna, try barnes & noble for the discount). saunders looks to be a better resource tool *in my opinion.* ati because i have to, saunders because i want to.
clarification: the ati stuff i have comes from school; it is a part of the fees i pay. they give us the next term's stuff around week 8 or so, so we can self-study over break. (whoo-hoo!) i bought the saunders paperback book from bricks & mortar rather than on-line because i wanted to be sure i got the 4th ed, with a disc included. i have a border's discount. nsna gives a barnes & noble's discount, if you are inclined. ebay works, but sometimes i don't get responses from specific sellers when i have questions about the used book they are selling. abe books is nice. i have success when i use isbn . nu to look isbn numbers up; bought several textbooks cheaper that way. it was my preference to call borders to order the saunders book; it was already on the shelf. cash & carry.
I really wouldn't recommend getting those ATI DVD's. In nursing school my class had to deal with both exams from our instructors and from ATI which I really thought was annoying. If content is an issue for you I would recommend Saunders. If you really need the visuals then the online videos from Kaplan review aren't that bad.
No, I dont recommend you purchasing the ATI package.
Use Saunder for material and knowledge questions.
Use Kaplan for strategies.
ATI is a waste of money. I paied it only becase of school requirement. After that, I used Saunder and Kaplan for my NCLEX and passed.
I did not study using the ATI for the school tets but I still got the full points required, not so bad, but I would have not passed if I only used ATI.

Anyone have any experience with the NCLEX-RN DVD's by ATI?? They're expensive, and ATI doesn't take returns.:angryfire
I'd be wild if I bought them and the content was hopelessly stupid, but I'm a real audio/visual learner who needs to start NCLEX prep soon.
Any advice??
