  1. Anyone have any experience with the NCLEX-RN DVD's by ATI?? They're expensive, and ATI doesn't take returns.:angryfire I'd be wild if I bought them and the content was hopelessly stupid, but I'm a real audio/visual learner who needs to start NCLEX prep soon. Any advice??
  2. I actually applied to Joe's, and to most of the other hosps. in in the area. I'm going to temp while I wait it out. But . . . disappointing? . . . yeah. I'm wretched. I'm not a nurse yet and I'm discouraged. How am I supposed to become the best I can be if I can't even get a job in the field?
  3. I would consider working in a nursing home. (But I can't afford the volunteer part for too long. I have been at school FT for the last three years and I've sort of run out of all my resources.) I really, really need a job. A job that pays money. And I really, really want to work at a hospital. I guess if push comes to shove, though, I will just temp through the summer again. But I wish I didn't have to do that.
  4. mocow 2006: 108 is fab. Really hard work. We lost a bunch of people too, but not as many as you. The thing that worked out best for me was using the Iggy Study Guide, it helped me study like nothing else. I know they don't ask us to buy it but I couldn't have gotten by without it. And DON'T skip lecture, you'll be sorry, they talk specifics there that WILL end up on your exams. And register on the Evolve site - http://evolve.elsevier.com/staticPages/index.html for resources for Iggy and the Pharmacology book. Excellent. There's a good Acid-Base resource at http://www.acid-base.com/ . And a good EKG site with a free (last time I used it) EKG tool http://www.skillstat.com/learn.htm. There are some really good books in the MLK library too, upstairs. Use every resource you can. And be good to your profs. They are great, and they are your best allies. I wish there was a forum where all the ECC nursing students could talk to each other. Or a study group that we could all come to. We need each other. Good luck. Do well. If I can help, let me know.
  5. Is it true the first thing they do at Mountainside is certify you as a CNA and put you out to work?
  6. ]Dana: It is kind of tough to get in. I just completed the second semester of the RN program. The professors are great. Lots of work, lots of studying - but definately worth the time and energy to get in, and stay in. Don't know much about the PN program. Aimee
  7. I'm looking for anything; for entry level, for CNA, for volunteer - hey, I'll mop floors to get started, clean toilets, hand out books from a cart, I'm up for it.. As I said I didn't expect instant hire but I was absolutely thrown for a loop by their brusqueness. I think I would probably never want work with a group that displays such a degree of unprofessional conduct - that's what makes me think there is something I'm not getting. A piece of critical information.
  8. I just finished my MedSurg unit at school and am looking for a job in a hospital. I'm not proud. I know I'm a beginner. I thought there was a need for nurses - but when I went to Holy Name in Teaneck the day before yesterday they were more rude than I would have thought possible. I've done relatively well at school and have two recommendations from clinical professors as well as a series of employers I had before I started my nursing program. Am I missing something? What did I do wrong? I didn't expect them to hire me on the spot, but I did expect them to be courteous and professional.
