  1. Does/did anyone attend this school? I was wondering how competitive it is to enter either their LPN or RN program? Thanks so much in advance! *Dana*
  2. TenRn1, Thank you so much for your reply on both this and my other post I have heard that Holy Name is a GREAT school, and you just confirmed that for me. I have a couple questions if you don't mind? Is it very hard to get in? When would be the best time to send in my application? If I complete my LPN there, would that make it easier for them to accept me to their RN program in the future? Thanks again!! *Dana*
  3. Does/Did anyone go to this school? I have heard some really great things about them, and hear they have excellent pass rates. I am thinking about applying. Do you know if they currently have a waiting list? What are the good/bad points of this school in your opinion? Thanks so much for any info you can give me..I really appreciate it!! :flowersfo *Dana*
  4. I have been looking around, and it seems every school around here is at least $15,000 There are no waiting lists for these schools, which is a plus, but I'm having a hard time trying to justify paying that much! Do you know of any schools in the northern NJ area that are a little more reasonable, with no waiting lists? Where did you all go, and what was your experience like? Thank you so much in advance! *Dana*
  5. Thank you all so much for your advice! I think I am going to start out with the LPN - it would be a huge improvement in pay (I'm a licensed esthetician right now), benefits, and in one year I could be out in the field I've wanted to be in since I was a child I can always take my time getting my RN if I want to pursue that afterwards. Thank you again! I love this board! :loveya: *Dana*
  6. Hi Everyone! I just have a quick question for you if you wouldn't mind:) ... If you could go back in time - would you have chosen the same path for yourself ( starting w/LPN and bridging to the RN )? The reason I ask is because in order for me to start an RN program, I would need a lot of pre-requisites because I've never attended college and didn't do great in high school - the LPN program in my area is 1. no pre-req. requirements and 2. no wait list. So...I guess what I'm asking is, should I just suck it up and go through all the pre-req.'s for the RN & then possibly be on a wait list or register for the LPN program? (Either way I don't mind as I have a great deal of respect for both) Thank you so much for your help:kiss Sorry for the rambling lol *Dana*
  7. Hi! I'm not in school yet, but I'm 25 and will be going back to school in January to start my pre-req's. I don't think we're too old at all to go back to school. I honestly think if I went to nursing school when I was fresh out of high school, I wouldn't have done well and I probably would be going back to finish it up now anyway lol. Like someone else on here said, I think I needed to have more maturity and life experience behind me (not that someone 18 wouldn't do well - I just personally feel I wouldn't have at 18 :wink2: ) I love to learn now - at 18, I could take it or leave it. I say go for it - even if you graduate at 30, that is still so0o young. Don't let anyone discourage you! Good luck to you - let us know what you decide? :) *Dana*
  8. Thank you so much! That helps a lot! :wink2:
  9. Hi Everyone! My name is Dana and I have been reading through some of these messages for the past month or so now, so I figured it was time I introduce myself! I'm currently a licensed Esthetician. I LOVE helping people and for as long as I can remember I've wanted to be a nurse. My cousin is an RN and I see how much she loves her job and its given me the push I think I needed to go ahead and just do it! I'm 25 years old and have never been to "college" - I went to a trade school for my Esthetics license. My question for you all is would I be better off starting out in the LPN program and then bridging over to RN? Or should I just start out with the RN program? I know I'll probably need some pre-req's first, but I'm just really excited to start and would love to hear your opinions! Thank you so much in advance! Sincerely, Dana
