ASU- Summer/Fall 2016

Published

Hey everyone! I thought this would be a great place to talk about Applications, TEAS Questions/Scores, Titers, and just getting to know each other!! Which semester are you applying for? Questions? It'll be fun! :) Introduce yourself!!!

I am applying for the fall term downtown. I'm nervous but totally excited! :)

Congrats everyone! I'm so incredibly happy right now ha. Anyone else starting at the VA?

I have been accepted to VA. I hate to say this, but I'm so dissapointed. I prefer summer start! Really badly! It sucks my score wasn't high enough to get my first pick. VA is my second choice.

Hey jennywise88,

I'm sorry you didn't get your first choice, I know that must be a major bummer. On the bright side, you still made it into the program!! =)

Surfsup95: I don't have enough posts to private message yet!

@m3owz3rs- I still got your message! I'll add you. :)

@slsimps4- could you try and send me your name? I'm having serious issues posting the link.

Your thread has been moved to the Nursing Schools / Colleges forum where the other school specific discussions are. We hope you will receive additional responses in this new location.

Does anyone know what hospitals we might be doing our clinicals at (for the downtown cohorts)? I'm curious.

I hear that Downtown cohort gets all of the clinical sites that are downtown as far as major hospitals, like Good Samaritan (BUMCP), Phoenix Children's, and the VA, but that may be where they were for Spring rather than Fall. I know for sure that I always see ASU students at Good Sam, so we can hope for that!

Hey m3owz3rs,

That's great that we are able to do our clinicals in the major hospitals. I also heard on another thread from another year that we may actually be placed in clinical sites that are closest to where we live, so a Chandler resident might be at a Chandler hospital, etc. If that's true, im not quite sure how they would work that, but I guess we'll find out at the orientation on the 28th. :)

Hey everyone,

Did anyone get the impression from the email that we will be purchasing all of our needed supplies (scrubs, stethoscope, bandage scissors, blood pressure cuffs, .... , etc.) at the junior 1 meeting? Pretty much everything except the books?

I know thr email says we will be purchasing "supplies", but I'm not sure what that entails and I need to financially plan for this. :)

Thanks!!

Yeah - it sure read that way to me, as well. I'm looking on the bright side - a few more credit card points (I'm thinking we will rack up a bunch of costs at that meeting!!) and I'll have a free ticket to Hawaii :)

From what it looked like last semester, it's just that all of the supplies are offered at once at the meeting. I would definitely bet on getting uniforms, bc I think this might be the only time they are available in person rather than online. I'm not sure about the other supplies, but I did hear that the stethoscopes that the students ordered at the meeting were given to them by the first day of lab. I assume that all of these supplies aren't needed until classes start, but definitely don't feel confined bc the supplies that aren't ASU specific you can absolutely get (maybe for cheaper) in other places such as Amazon, or a store like Scrubs and Beyond. I didn't stay too long to look at all the supplies bc I was an alternate, but I did see a LOT of ASU Nursing merch at the meeting too, from the different Nursing Associations you can join at ASU.
