Do you know much about the hours and clinicals for the evenings?

So when I spoke to one advisor over the phone, he explained that evenings are 2-3 times a week from 5:30-9:30pm and clinicals are Saturday and Sunday. Then another advisor told me it was 2-3 evenings from 5:30-10:30pm and clinicals EITHER Saturday OR Sunday. I was just a little bothered because no one could give me a correct answer to what the schedule would be like

Hey everyone! Just updating in case people are curious or they want to know more about Aspen. I started in the core nursing program a few months ago and I love it! A few of my professors are ridiculous but I think that is to be expected no matter where you go. Feel free to message me if you have any questions! I'm in the days cohort.

Glad I can finally talk to someone that has made it to the core portion. How were the online classes?

I don't think they're difficult at all but I have taken many online classes in the past in high school and when taking my pre-requisites. In fact, I thought these online classes were set up better than ones I have taken in the past. You have 1 module to complete a week in every course. So if you're taking 4 courses and have 1 module each, thats 4 modules to complete a week. Each module includes readings, a discussion question (sometimes 2) depending on the course, and an assignment (either an essay or quizzes).

In the core portion of the program, not all of your classes are online unlike the pre-req portion. You meet with your cohort 1-2x times a week during seminar and/or lab. Everyone in your cohort is usually taking the exact same classes as you and you get super close to them during lab and seminar so that makes it a lot easier since you already know your classmates from your online classes. If i'm ever confused on an online assignment or don't understand it, I can easily text one of my fellow classmates for help. Hope that answers your question!

I'm glad to hear you are having a good experience. This makes me feel better. Have you started in the hospitals yet?

Not yet! We start pretty soon though. I was nervous starting out because there wasn't any information about it anywhere from current students so I hope I was able to relieve some of your nerves. I think you'll really enjoy Aspen and have a great experience there!

Hi everyone! I am taking 2 classes online at Aspen starting in September. This will finish my pre-requisites for the Nursing Core. I am hoping to start Nursing Core in November at the North Phoenix campus. I asked my adviser and she said they will accept 30 students into this cohort. Does anyone have experience with getting in to nursing core? I'm moving from Seattle to Phoenix for this so I really need to know if I have good chances of getting in!

Thanks!

@m.higgins5 not trying to be your doom and gloom, but if you are starting your last couple of pre-reqs in September, you most likely will not be in the muring core for November. Pre-reqs are 8 weeks in length and your courses need to be complete before starting the core. I am currently taking my last pre-req with them (course ends late sept) and plan to start core in November. I my am not too sure on application date, but I believe this round of applications are due by August or September for the November core start (again don’t quote me on that exact app deadline). My assumption would be that if your pre-read don’t begin until September, you would start in the next core after November start, but best to contact the advisor at aspen for confirmation.

When you moved from prerequisites to core, how was that process? When did everything have to be completed by as in classes and hesi? and how long was the turn around time before you were notified that you made it into core? Thanks in advance :)

I took a campus tour yesterday and the advisor I spoke with was very knowledgeable. Evenings are 5:30pm - 10:30pm 2-3 times a week and weekends are all day Saturday AND Sunday.

I didn't do my prereqs at Aspen so i'm not sure if I can answer your question appropriately. I did them all at another school in the valley and then applied to Aspen's nursing core program. I applied to the core portion about 6 months after completing my pre-reqs and I heard back from them that I got into the core program about 2-3 weeks later. After I got in, they informed me of the deadlines for completing the HESI. I think I had about a month to stud if I remember correctly.

Hey, I see a few of you have already started the pre-licensure program. I'm just finding out about Aspen University, and I wanted to know how you guys like the program? Also was it hard to get into the core nursing part after you finished the first year of pre reqs with them? I'm hoping to start in January, currently in the enrollment process.
