If you want to be a nurse in the Army you NEED to be speaking to a healthcare recruiter. It sounds like you are speaking to a regular recruiter that is trying to get you to enlist to meet numbers. Look up the number to the closest healthcare recruiter for your region. With a BSN and experience in critical care you may have a shot at commissioning but the Army is pretty competitive even for critical care. Unless you are deadset on the Army I would also contact both the Navy and Air Force healthcare recruiters and speak with them. This way you will know all of your options. Don't let the Army recruiter pressure you into filling out that paperwork tomorrow
Do not enlist; the recruiter is just trying to meet his quota. To prove this, point ask him to show you in writing and to have it writing & guaranteed in your contract. See how fast this changes. As a Major in the Army Nurse Corps I am advising you not to believe this recruiter. If you think he is lying to you ask for his supervisors name and contact information. As an earlier poster has said contact a healthcare recruiter. It might take some time before they get back to you but the wait will be worth it. If you have any questions send me a PM.

I spoke with a military recruiter and told him I wanted to be an army nurse and I have my BSN with a year critical cAre experience. He said its best for me to join as an LPN and then go to OCS and he wants me to start the paperwork tomorrow. I just do not understand why I would do this when I am not an LPN. PLEASE HELP !! IS THIS BEST FOR ME TO JOIN?
