Finally after clearing MEPs, completing 50+page application, finding references and signing my DA61 sheet my packet will go before Army Nurse Board Nov.15 2016, hopefully if I get selected I will comission as a 1stLT - just wanted any advice or 2 cents for those who have had military experience as a nurse.
I have 2 boys and I chose the reservist route vs active to prevent them from having to move around too much and being able to live close at home to them. I've been an ICU nurse for almost 8 years and have always wanted to serve my country and this website has given me so much information so for the military nurses out there how is it? Why did you choose reserve vs active or vice versa
I live in Houston according to my recruiter I will probably drill in Fort Sam in SA one weekend a month I was hoping there would be someone out there who can tell me about the experience, as far as drill weekends, scheduling, juggling civilian job and life etc. my recruiter has done well filling me in but reading personal stories on here is always great input as well.
Thanks again and if someone can reach out to me personally please PM me with your email address I'd love to hear about your experience

So my friend who is also a 66P, told me today that her recruiter let her know that 7 people were already chosen for the quota. But you still say that they still need to select more candidates per your recruiter?
I'm trying to find hope:barf02:...a light..something lolololol
@Ray Yep 66Ps...are Nurse practitioners..!!

Wow,,, that's great. From my understanding, if they pulled everyone off the OML they would not make mission. The issue with me is in the need for a waiver. I was selected as a CPT for FY16 last November (not OML, SELECTED). I had commissioning orders and orders to a unit. My waiver was denied in January, however, they realized it should have been granted a couple of months ago and ARMY G-1 told them to re-board me.
Thank you for the updated information. Hopefully it won't be long and I'll see you at the center in Chattanooga.
66p filled up supposedly 10 slots for 47 people. So I have to wait on the merit list and more then likely next October.I have started the process of moving my completed application to the national guard since they have openings.
That does not sound good,,, Where is your recruiter out of?
Good luck with the NG!
hi all! just reading this for the first time. my packet missed the november board date and is at board ready status for this next week. i am applying for the 66H med-surg even though i work in critical care because i have not gotten enough experience to have taken the CCRN yet. i'm applying for the reserves and live in the Nashville, TN area. is anyone else applying and waiting on this board? i heard there were 54 66H spots in the reserves available for FY2017 and the november board only filled 9 of them so far. i'm feeling quite nervous even though i had some solid medical and military references. i'm just ready to hear for sure!
