So, I'm a 17 year Army medic finally starting Nursing school. I've been accepted to the College of New Rochelle Accelerated BSN program and I need help. I have been a field medic in Afghanistan, worked in a Army ER in Germany and been the NCOIC of multiple clinics. I have 3 years to retire from the Army reserves and I wonder how Nursing School will be. Will it be all new information? Should I not expose my skills and just learn, I have been taught to take charge for a long time. I just don't want to be over bearing in class and I want to do well without interruptions. Please help.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.
A typical ABSN program will be very intense and fast-paced, so you shouldn't feel as though it's going to slow. What you consider an "interruption" may be necessary for someone else's learning. I admire the fact that you already realize the areas in which you may have difficulty adapting. In my experience, if you make sure that your classmates understand your background and have your "permission" to let you know if they feel that you're being too pushy, too impatient, too . . . It will all be good. The key to success will be opening yourself to criticism and not becoming defensive or argumentative. But, considering all you have accomplished, that should be a piece of cake.
I'm afraid I don't have any advice for coping with the rigidity and rules of nursing school. Just try to keep in mind that it's part of the process. Compliance doesn't mean capitulation. Keep your ego in check and just go with the flow, even if when you experience those "moments" in which you realize you know more a subject than instructor does.
Keep us posted on your progress.
