Army: I've been selected... Heard nothing else

Published

So I have been informed that the selection board for July selected me. I asked my recruiter for a timeline and he says he doesn't know when I'll commission or get orders. There has to be an order to commission me and then HR will get in touch with me through e-mail.

Student loans kick in 6 months after graduation and I have no idea when anything is going to happen. I'm going to have to get a nursing job and hope I don't piss anybody off if I only work for 2 months. Anyway, does anybody have a clue as to what the timeline is on this? How long could this take?

I was selected in May and commissioned June 12. My recruiter told me that they were trying to contact me last week while I was in Cuba but I missed the deadline to start DCC on September 7th. I have left several messages and have not heard anything. My recruiter said he'll call tomorrow.

When you say "commissioned" do you mean signing your contract or something else? I hope you hear from them. I'm in the same boat and just waiting for orders.

Yes, by commissioned I meant sign the contract. We'll probably be going in November then.

Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, I really was hoping for September but oh well. You mentioned that they were trying to contact you. Did you mean that your recruiter tried to call you or email and you just didn't have the opportunity to return it? Or was it some other person from HRC? I've been checking my military email and personal email, but I haven't received anything. It's been about a month since I signed my contract.

I guess they were trying to reach me by phone but I didn't have service. My recruiter gave me a number to call and I have left several messages. Nothing in my email. Has anyone else heard anything?

Yes, I also feel that I'm being punk'd

What's your AOC?

Hello, I finally found out today that I will be leaving for DCC on Nov 16 and BOLC January 6th. They gave me the choices of Georgia, Alaska, North Carolina, Missouri, and Kentucky, so I chose Kentucky because of the vicinity to Nashville.

Congrats! Still waiting for orders. It's crazy that it takes so long to hear from HRC. Even my recruiter was asking if I heard anything.

Man. That list though... I hope that your first duty station is fun, at least.

If you are a 66S, I know your boss-to-be. :)

I got my orders late last week. I'm reserves.

I will be a 66H

So, as I had previously stated, I was cleared to commission in July. However, I still haven't commissioned. At first my recruiter said there was something going on my with security clearance, which is odd in the first place because I still have an active clearance. Three weeks ago he said that he was finally seeing movement and that I should be able to commission (last week). I wrote him Wednesday but I have yet to receive a response. Is anyone else having any similar issues? I was really hoping to leave in November but I just feel as if I will never leave. (Yes, I am probably being too dramatic butttt it's driving me crazy).
