Looking to see if there are any other Maricopa Comm College CEP applicants out there yet for Fall 2017 start (summer 2017 at the university). I put in my application Nov 7th & was told it would be a "couple" weeks until I was notified by email if & what schools I get accepted to. Anyone else out there...yet?
If you take Stat with the CC you may just have to take an elective with your university later.
I had the choice to take stat with ASU or with Rio. I took it with Rio online to get it done and not pay to take it at ASU but now I am taking an upper level elective.
You will do another background check and the Cc will tell you more about it right before your orientation or at orientation.

So do you suggest just doing Stats with Ottawa? It seems from what you're saying that although it's more expensive, it will save me additional work in the long run!
Thanks!
I am finishing up stats with Maricopa now. I am so glad I will have it out of the way going into CEP. I was apprehensive going in and knew I wanted to take it solo. I won't say it has been overly difficult, however, it has been quite time consuming. Be sure to research your instructor as that can make or break this class for sure!
Maybe Stats with Maricopa would be better then...since it's a lower level class, it (technically) should be a little easier.......!!
Good morning Union-Jack!
Stats at EMCC with ----------------- is probably your best bet. She is not easy in any way. She is on the other hand easy on her grading. You get 4 major assignments worth 100 points each. If you turn them in on time ( even if it's a paper with your name on it) she corrects all of your errors and allows you to re-type it for full points. She does have quizzes weekly and encourages you to read the material prior to class. It's time consuming until you get the hang of it. I was in the tutoring center every single day learning the verbiage she wanted since it is very specific. Other than that it is very little math. I hope this helps.

Thanks KarlaC. Did you go in person or take online with EMCC?
Thanks!
Well folks, I am assuming you will all be starting your online classes very shortly, regardless of which University you chose to partner with! I'm with Ottawa, and we start this coming Monday. Ottawa organizes the semester into 2 terms, so 2 8-week classes followed by 2 more 8-weeks classes. The initial 2 classes are kind of "introductory" classes, if you will, but in the second half of the semester we'll be taking "nursing classes", so I'm super excited about that!
Wishing you all the best on your journey....maybe see some of you in Spring 2018?!?!

Ahhh - that makes sense why you'd do the computer class at EMCC! I have a similar situation with statistics, which is a required class from Ottawa; I can take it with EMCC (or any Maricopa college) or through Ottawa, but obviously Ottawa will be more expensive. However - my advisor told me (and I suggest you look into this too, although obviously it's your call) that if I take statistics with CC, then it will be considered a lower level (200 level) class, whereas if I take it with Ottawa, it is considered a 300/400 level class (a higher class), which impacts the transcript. Not sure if that's the case with FPU, but might be worth looking into?
I wouldn't be surprised if they ask us to do another background check sometime before or during the start of the nursing block, simply because we will be working (eventually) with the public and public health, and the potential ramifications if they allowed someone with a shady history to do that could be disastrous! The immunizations are for the same reason; especially in light of the fact we'll be working with people who are health-compromised.
When you come to enroll at EMCC for your computer class, they'll tell you then whether you need to provide immunization records at that point or whether you can wait until you start the nursing block. If they ask you to provide them in the fall, then that must be standard practice for every student entering EMCC (or any Maricopa college), much like it is for school kids.
Either way, the nursing orientation won't be for a while...closer to the end of the year or very early 2018. Your FPU orientation should be fairly soon if your classes begin in September. Where and how that will be done, I don't know, because it will be based on the number of students enrolled with FPU. Your advisor should know - shoot him an email!
I can understand your anxiety, because everything is so new to us, but I really wouldn't worry too much - it is in FPU's interest to keep you on track or they will lose a student...(read $$$)....and Maricopa won't be too thrilled if one of their partner Universities is dropping the ball. However, if you really are worried, don't sit and wait for info....reach out and get your questions answered with FPU! Best of luck!!
