U.S.A. Arizona

Hello everyone! How long did it take before you got accepted into a MCCDNP??? Please list how long you had to wait and what school you got in to and what number it was on your top 5. This will be fun! Maybe it will give some hope to all of us who are still waiting!!! THANK YOU!!! :yeah:

I applied for the program in March 2006 and started in August 2007 and it was pretty varied with the other students in my class but most of us averaged 3 semester wait. What are they saying the wait is nowadays? I listed Phoenix College as my first choice and that is the one I got into.

Hello amandie24 ! Thank you for the response! Well just like you mentioned it is supposed to be about 3 semesters... I turned in my application and am waiting for it to be entered into the system, then I am going to list Phoenix college as my first choice and the accelerated at Phoenix College as my second. I have heard so many good things about it! I am hoping I will get in next january... So you really like it at PC?

Hey bellabarbiegirl! I'm in the same boat as you...I turned my application in December 2, and I'm anxiously waiting for that time stamp next Friday! SCC accelerated is my top choice. I'm also hoping to get in soon...the number of applicants just keeps going up though! It was 2,056 the last time I checked! I don't know if this works for schools that don't have a partnership (like PVCC & John C. Lincoln and SCC & Scottsdale Healthcare), but you could try volunteering at a hospital. I had BIO202 with a guy who was volunteering at John C. Lincoln and was only on the "placement" list for 4 months. I'm volunteering at Scottsdale Healthcare, so hopefully that'll help me get in sooner than 3 (probably 4 at this point) semesters! :nuke:

Good luck to you!

I do like PC a lot... but I would venture to guess most people would say that about the program they ended up in. I've made some good friends and the instructors have been good to me so I can't really complain. The wait will be worth it and before you know it you will be the one that is in Block IV wondering how the hell you are supposed to be ready to take care of a patient already? :)

I applied Oct 2007 and as of yet have not been placed. I have always had 5 choices and they included Paradise Valley, Scottsdale, Phoenix (accelerated), Glendale and Gateway - Phoenix (standard) when PVCC is removed for fall placement. Now that PVCC and SCC have given most of their available spaces to hospital employees it lowers the chance of getting into these two locations.

I have seen a few that were accepted into the program for Spring 09 and the remaining of our date/time stamp should be placed for Fall 09.

Looking forward to the placement soon!

I applied October of 2007, I was told I didn't get in the last placement. One day I got a call from Glendale stating some people didn't show up to orientation and was offered the spot. Of course I took it!!! That was January of 2009. I am now in Block one, late start comes with a lot of stress but it has been worth it! Good luck to all of you!!! If you don't get placed, take those phone calls, it may just be good news!!!

I was date stamped in May of 07. I had Phoenix College as my first choice, then Estrella, Glendale, Gateway, Bosewell. I still had not made it in by FAll 08. I got in through Banner Nurse Fellows and started in October. Don't know when I would have finally gotten in. If they are still offering it, I would recommend applying to the Banner Fellows Program. I'm so happy I did.

Thank you for posting this - yes it helps me, and gives me hope while I'm waiting...... I've just been time-stamped, and have been told that I could be waiting until the fall semester of 2010. I've spent the last three semesters going to Phoenix College (currently a student there now) and it is my first choice (traditional) and second choice (accelerated). My third choice is Gateway CC. My biggest challenge now is to figure out what to do while I am waiting, to keep my hand and mind in a healthcare mode. I work at a hospital, but not in a clinical capacity. I may take some non-required allied health classes at PC, and try to lateral-move to a position at work where I would work in an actual clinical setting, while I am in the three-semester wait period. I wouldn't mind hearing what other's strategies are for coping with the wait - I've read where some have gotten additional medical education, and have become med techs, plebotomists, etc. while they are waiting to get into nursing school.

Hi there,

I was just talking with an advisor last week and she told me that the only partnership facility that allows volunteers to apply and get preferred placement is John C. Lincoln. To get priority placement for Scottsdale's program, you must be an employee.

This is just the latest I heard. Who knows it could have changed in the last week!

It seems like from the replies I've read, the wait time is quite varied. I wasn't aware that going through one of the partnerships puts you ahead of people already waiting?? I didn't notice anyone that said they had picked Rio Salado on-line program as a choice; I am curious about how many people actually do make it one of their choices. On a previous thread I mentioned I picked Rio as my ONLY choice due to my current work situation, but still anticipated 18 mo-24 mo wait as my advisor told me. (I was entered to the system april 08, but not date stamped until june 08.) I'm now wondering if it could be even longer than that due the number of people that also choose Rio? Any feedback would be appreciated! thankssmile.png

I waited 2 semesters to get in. I had my date and time stamp for FEB 22, 2008 and just got in!!!! I was a very long wait for me. Every time they ran a placement my heart would just get broken. I actually expanded my choices for colleges in AZ and worked on my pre-reqs for Yavapai college while I waited so I applied to them as well but I will not find out if I get in until April sometime. Yavapai doesn't have a wait list they just go off of your hesi test score which is nice. I got right in to their CNA program and just finished that up before spring break. It was great to take that class because it was on eye opener for me. I recommend taking it before going into nursing just so you know what you are getting into. I had a few gag moments but I got through them! I am sure nursing will be worse but it was a start for me.
