  1. At our school there is no eval for midterm but I had not been in trouble during clinicals. I have never been in trouble in nursing school. The reason I say it is discrimination is because the hospital stated that they would be more than happy to have me finish my capstone. My teacher flat out said that she had a problem with the way I look (I am tattoo'd and pierced but obviouly covered during school) and that she thought I didn't do well during class because I was pregnant. I had a B in the class so I am not sure what her version of doing well is. The teachers that had me failed had never once seen me during a clinical session. All of the students also had the opportunity to redo their work except for me. After 3 months of asking for the papers I needed to redo I got an email stating that I was irritating to her. Yes I have all of this saved. I tried to contact the dean at our school and he refused to respond. They refused to give me copies of anything that was said or done and just decided I needed to redo the full year. I got my LPN because I have no choice but there are no jobs in this state as they do not hire them in the acute care setting and are trying to phase out LPN's alltogether. HR at the place I work (where I did my capstone) said they could do nothing unless the school did, well the school said they tried to get me into another preceptorship (which I do not believe) and was told there wasn't a spot. They have allowed other students to wait until the next preceptorship to finish and allowed another student to re-enter their block 4 after failing. I was told I was no longer allowed to finish at that school period. The preceptor lied about things I "had done" but it was my word against his and they took his. I don't know why but he just really disliked me. I tried to stay out of his way and just be a fly on the wall to get through. He yelled at me in front of many employees and constantly threw me at other nurses to take. He tried to say I was starting IV's without him present when in actuallity he tried to get me to do so and I refused. I was following the rules which is what is so frustrating. There is no LPN-RN bridge in Arizona just 1 LPN-BSN at a school that is completely unaffordable for me. I have to take a $50 test and get a certain score in order to get back into block 3 of the RN program and then redo those 2 semesters. I just am having a hard time with this because I passed everything, no one wants to redo nursing school. If it was just one semester no big deal but 2...not fair.
  2. I was in my clinical capstone and 5 days before I graduated my preceptor decided he would no longer precept me. I was beyond devistated, I had done nothing wrong. He told my teachers things that had never happened and I had no where to turn. The state board of nursing wouldn't help me. The hospital that I was at wanted to but it was up to the school not them. My teacher had also allowed everyone to redo work except me, told me she had a problem with the way I looked and also said that I had a hard time because I was pregnant. This is blatent discrimination. My real question is, what do I do? I have researched to no avail on how to finish just my capstone. Any ideas anyone? I did obtain my LPN in the meantime but I don't think it's fair that I have to repeat a full year of nursing school due to a he said she said issue. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to get around this?
  3. I looked through the state board page and connot find anything. It's almost impossible to search...urg. I will try again though. Thank you so much.
  4. I was in the ADN program here in Phoenix. Before 4th block I had fallen ill with Meningitis and had to be hospitalized for about 2 months. I withdrew from the program due to this and then re-admitted the next semester. I passed everything and was on my way to my preceptorship. Needless to say there was a personality conflict and instead of going to the school my preceptor had me kicked out of the hospital. I am also employeed there so I went to HR. HR was on my side and pleaded with the school to let me finish, the school still said no. Due to my readmittance I would have to start back at 3rd block to get my RN. I really don't want to lose all of that time when I passed my classes. Do any of you know of a school that would let me transfer those nursing credits towards another BSN or ADN program? Excelsior does but I cannot afford them, they don't allow financial aid. There are a few LPN to BSN programs (I ended up having to get my LPN in the meantime) but I really don't want to lose all of those credits...I am frustrated with what happened and at a total loss of what to do..any help would be wonderful.
  5. I applied October of 2007, I was told I didn't get in the last placement. One day I got a call from Glendale stating some people didn't show up to orientation and was offered the spot. Of course I took it!!! That was January of 2009. I am now in Block one, late start comes with a lot of stress but it has been worth it! Good luck to all of you!!! If you don't get placed, take those phone calls, it may just be good news!!!
  6. I am currently a nursing student in Phoenix, Arizona. It used to be that you could become a LPN after block 2 of nursing school. Rumor has it that this has changed and you have to wait until after block 3, is this true? I hope not, it would be pointless to get your lpn with one semester of RN school left. I am currently a phlebotomist and really wanted to work as a LPN until I was done with RN, pays much better than phlebotomy!! Anyone know where I could find this info? I have looked all over the place, including the arizona state board of Nursing.
  7. I work for Banner as well but did not want to do the fellowship due to it being an Accelerated program and I am not a fan of signing contracts. Besides, if I apply now I would probably get into the MCCD program first. I have all the choices for schools (I think there are 5) so I am not minimizing my chances. I am just frustrated with the waiting. I have also heard that Boswell has a short waiting time, which is my second choice, I am guessing that is a rumor since I am still not in!
  8. For the few natives ( I am one) we call it scaryvale because of all the shootings and stabbings. It is a scary place and I would NEVER go there alone or unprotected. As for the hospital, thats where they go until they get transferred to a Trauma hospital. It isn't pretty
  9. I know where I work at if you work 36 you get paid for 40, Mayo was also the same way, as far as I know.
  10. I applied to nursing school in October '07, it seems like I am already out for the August start date. How long is the wait for most of you? Im starting to get dicouraged, they said I would only have to wait a year. I want to start school already!!! Any advise is helpful!!
