Hello everyone! How long did it take before you got accepted into a MCCDNP??? Please list how long you had to wait and what school you got in to and what number it was on your top 5. This will be fun! Maybe it will give some hope to all of us who are still waiting!!! THANK YOU!!!
I just applied for advanced placement (3rd block) at Gateway on May 7. On my application, there weren't any choices as to where I was willing to go, so I wonder how that works? I haven't spoken to the DON yet. I'm hoping there's a spot for me in a summer program, but that's probably asking for a miricle. But, MAN! I can't believe the wait to enter the programs here in the valley. It's depressing.

It can be, if you let it.... I've been told I probably won't get in until Fall of 2010, but I am crossing my fingers and hoping for a miracle of sorts. I got my date/time stamp on 20 February - still over a thousand waiting ahead of me according to the info on the MCCNP web page. I've decided to use this time that I'm waiting to take some non-required allied health courses - also kicking around the idea of taking some Spanish courses to be somewhat more bi-lingual. Pretty much done with the required pre-nursing stuff now, but I want to somehow stay in "school mode". I have five choices listed - Gateway is actually my third choice. Put that one down because I live in central Phoenix so commuting to school won't be hard if that is where I end up going. Phoenix College trad. & accelerated are my first two choices, as I've been going there for pre-nursing, and it's very close to where I live and work now. Logistics of all of this IMO is important - going to be working a full time job and going to nursing school as well so I probably won't have lots of time for long distance commutes.
Yes, the waiting list is long, but look at it as a chance to prepare for when you actually get in - researching different books on nursing math and dosage calculations right now too - I want to have that down pat beforehand.
PCStudent,
Yes, I'm thinking that it wouldn't be a bad idea to brush up on drug calculations skills while I wait. I'm an LPN, and I still haven't found a job in that field, so I definitely have some time on my hands.
As for Spanish classes, I HIGHLY recommend that if you have the time, go for it! When I did my clinicals at Mesa General for OB, I was doing a good amount of translating for doctors and nurses. It's a valuable tool to have in the toolbox.
BTW, can you give me a link to the website where one can see how many are applying? Thanks! And best of luck to all who are in waiting!

Here's where I go periodically to check my application status:
https://hceweb.maricopa.edu/CFIDE/docs/hcies/studentStatus/index.cfm
You actually have to log in to check your individual status, and/or make changes in your choices, address, phone, etc. but the login page itself shows the number of current applicants in the system waiting to be placed - right now it's at 1,712.
Thanks PCStudent!
I guess I'm not in the system yet. I'll call first thing Monday to get some info.
I've always loved PC, and I would love to attend the nursing program there. It's so diverse, and it doesn't look like a desert. I did my prereqs there when I lived on Central & Camelback road. But now that I live in North Phx, Gateway is a straight shot on the 51. PVCC is very close to me, but they have a small program, and their 3rd block starts maybe once or twice a year.
BTW, the Micro instructor at PC was awesome! I was dreading that class, but on the first day, she told us to return our textbooks, and we would be using hers. She made it fun and interesting.
Anyhoo, thanks again for the info!

I had Rio as my number 1 for my 2 semester wait and I still didn't get placed with them. I got into scottsdale though which actually has a better pass rate for the NCLEX than Rio does. (My date and time stamp was Feb 22 2008)
