Has anyone heard of Ethel Bauer School of Nursing?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has heard anything good or indifferent about this nursing school ? Its part of IIA(International Institute of America/Ethel Bauer School of Nursing). Just wondering if I should apply to this school which requires very little pre-q due to the fact most are incorpated into the classtime. The program takes 17months(fast paced)afterwards I would have my RN. The cost is rather expensive about 26,000 and a full time commitment ! ! Or should I attend ASU and get my BSN which will take about 3 1/2 yrs ? From what I understand there is almost no difference between RN vs BSN as far as pay, but would I be able to specialize in OB without a BSN ? Thanks alot

I have heard of the school but i am a bit skeptical because of the area and location does not look reliable. However, I know a couple of people that is currently in the program and I have heard nothing but good feedback. I think their first graduating class is this June. Anyway, I have completed my file with then and already went in yesterday for an interview. If I get accepted, I will start the program next month. As far as the accreditation is concerned, the school is nationally accredited by ACICS which not very many schools accept direct credit from them. The good news, Univeristy of Phoenix does credit their class for the RN-BSN program. If you want to specilize in a specific field, i believe you need your BSN. I've read and heard from differn RN's that ADN and BSN has no pay differential. If you just want a simple RN job in an acute care, long-term care facility, or in home health, then it really doesn't matter. But if you would like to keep as many options open to you as possible, then the BSN is going to serve you better in the long run.

I will be in the first graduating class of Ethel Bauer. I am in my final block now. Actually we are done with school about mid-September but do not graduate until Oct. 6, 2006. It is right around the corner though. I have been in since it's start in March 2005 so I actually have a LOT of information about the school.

I go to Ethel Bauer and I do NOT recommend it!!!! If I was not in need of my RN with out my BSN I would never do the program. They kick students out for poor reasons and let students stay who should be out for reasons unknown. The school has no integrity. Go any where but Ethel Bauer. They charge too much for an education you do not get.

EBSN had a NCLEX pass rate of 68%....OUCH!!!

Sounds like things are falling apart nicely there similar to other local nursing schools. :lol2:

You do not need a BSN to specialize in different fields. I'm in block 3 of an ADN and am working as an extern in L&D. I will be able to work there when I finish school. I'll work as an Extern 2 and then as an RN when I pass the NCLEX. There have been other people on this board who have gone into ICU with an ADN straight out of school. In AZ they don't really differentiate ADN from BSN unless you want to go into management. I already have a BS though, and didn't feel I needed another, plus you really get more clinical experience in the MCC system. I plan on taking the RN-MSN after I graduate so that I can specialize further.
