BIO 202 and BIO 205 same semester? Good/bad idea?

I'm thinking about taking BIO 202 and BIO 205 next semester. Am I crazy? Those will probably be the only 2 classes I'll take. I might take Micro online through Rio Salado and A&P 2 at MCC....or both at MCC? I need advice!

Thanks!

If your a strong student then I would say taking these together would be fine. I took anatomy 1 and 2 in the summer back to back and I managed to get an A and B. micro is a fun and interesting class and I had a wonderful professor. I think taking these classes together would be a lot of work but could be managed. I think it all has to do with the professor. Check Rate my Professor.com Good Luck!

I took A&P 1, Microbiology, Statistics, psychology, class all the same semester--it was the only semester in my NS time that I got a 4.0 for that term.

It got a little tricky for finals though--I took A&P final, then had an 1 1/2 hour break then took my Micro exam--in fact the Professor congratulated me on my A in A&P just before I sat for Micro--almost messed me up--she did. She and I just never really got along so I saw it for what it was--her attempt to distract me. Didn't work though.

What was I thinking? It was a lot of hard work--don't think I did anything but sleep and study.

If you are strong in BIO courses and are disciplined in time management, I think taking these two would not be a problem for you. I opted not to take them at the same time because my background is BA in fine arts and I knew I would have had to spend a lot of time on each of these classes. If you do opt to take Rio's BIO205, please keep us posted. I would be interested in taking it from Rio except that my experience with their CHM wasn't that great so am very hesitant about doing it again.

Good luck to you! I am sure you'll do great!!

Well, I did take BIO 202 and BIO 205 together last spring. When my teachers found out they looked at me like I was crazy when I told them and said "Good luck, you're going to need it" with a doubful look on their faces. I showed them.... I got an A in BIO202 AND I got an A in BIO205. So it is possible! Make sure you pick good teachers. Mine were awesome.

So if anyone else is considering taking Bio202 with Bio205, and you typically do well in classes, and you can stay organized and turn things in on time, I think you'll be just fine. Go for it!! :yeah:

Yep, I took BIO 202 and BIO 205 last semester (which was Spring 2010) and I got A in every class. My teachers were looking at me like I was crazy, but hey... you got to do what you got to do, right? and I was working towards finishing up my pre-req's for Banner program which lovely closed their doors before I even got there (but its all other story:mad:).

Anyway - just want to let you guys know - it is possibly!!! You CAN take these 2 classes and survive :smokin:

I took them both at the same time for the exact same reason, only to have Banner cancel their program! Then I decided to change course and took 3-8 week classes online to try to hurry up and get prereq's done so I could appy to ASU. 3-4 semeseter wait for the Maricopa Community Colleges is not appealing at all!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a professor at any of the colleges? I wanted to try to take it on a Saturday or during the summer, or possibly at Rio Salado. I am aprehensive about taking it at RIO. How does BIO 205 compare to BIO 156 or BIO 201 at RIO?

All Rio sciences are the same format! 205 is no exception. Take it in person you will learn more and be less stressed. Look into Gateway they usually have a Sat class. If you can pick the teacher that's last name starts with an A. He comes with a very high satisfaction rating from my peers who have had him.

Hi smilinjen! I came across this post and it sounds like I'm trying to do what you have already accomplished! Did you take the HCR courses online with Rio? I am attempting to cram HCR 210 and 230 before Feb. 1 to better my chances into ASU summer program. I am a week late in starting because class started Mon. The 6th but I had to get permission to start. My hesitation is if I have shot myself in the foot starting late trying to get these classes done before app. Deadline? Any advice? I still have to take the TEAS too! I'm going to apply to GCU too altjough the tuition seems rather steep. Anywhoo I have not started either course yet but wanted to know if its too late cause I have missed a week in both classes? Any info. Would be great thanks!

I just took Developmental Psych, Nutrition 241, BIO 202 and BIO 205, I got 2 B's in my BIO classes and A's in the other two. I think I could have gotten A's if all I had taken were the BIO 202 and 205 but if you have more classes and have the time I would spread the two out.

I took micro, 202, nutrition, developmental and chemistry 152 last semester and I got A's in all of them (I had literally no life), but it was not impossible.

You can take 202 and 205 in the same term easily (especially if they are your only courses).

I would recommend you NOT take micro-online. If you look at many nursing schools, many won't accept online bio classes. Would be a waste to take it online and then have to retake it in the classroom.
