Hello-I just relocated from Indiana (worked in ST E Lafayette ICU for 3 years). To answer your question about the cuts: it's here too. I work agency per diem now. Thing is, I have never felt understaffed in the ICU's I've worked here. I know you would have no problem finding an ICU job. There are so many openings here. Especially the Abrazo network. I was hired at Banner, and it didn't seem to be a good fit for me.
Before the move, I was getting burnt out also. I think the ICU just has a high burn out rate. Therefore, there are many openings out here :)
UAMC in Tucson CVICU has had 3 managers in 4 years if that tells you anything.
Hello to my nurse friends out there in Arizona! I currently work in Indiana in a Cardiovascular ICU and am getting burnt out extremely fast due to the hospitals freaking out over reimbursements and cost cutting. My hospital just laid off a ton of people and expects the current staff to pick up the slack. I've been a nurse for 11 years, and this change is a killer. So! I currently am considering an ICU position option in Arizona, right now in Phoenix, but I don't want to leave one mess to hop into another. Any opinions out there?
