Arizona board of nursing licensure by examination (international graduate)

Published

Hi everyone,

I am josh, a fresh grad from the philippines.

I just recently read on this site that arizona is included in the concurrency issue. Now I am a little afraid that I might get denied. I have already purchased a CGFNS-CES and just today the report was issued with meets all program requirements, comparable to BSN in the US. Tomorrow, I will be sending my application to AZBN. The reason I applied in arizona was because of catfish fishing! And cheap housing. Second is 3 of my schoolmates who graduated october of 2012 passed the arizona nclex Feb 2013. So that gives me hope. Just sharing guys. Will update this post as soon as possible. If you have any questions, or are interested in applying in arizona, i might be able to answer some of your questions. =) i have been in contact with their representative for international graduates. Do you think i should ask her about the concurrency issue?

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Housing isn't always cheap in AZ, know a few people who have had issues with AZ and jobs are hard if I remember reading rightly in the state forum

I know. Just keeping my head up. AZ housing is ranging from 500-800.. Not bad vs. california. Also. I wanna start fresh. Too many bad memories in CA. Anyway, can you direct me to the thread that discusses the problems they had with AZBN?

more with AZ housing than with the BON. I had good experience when dealing with them and always quick to answer my questions but this was about 5 years ago

Yes all my questions are being answered everytime I call them. They are very patient with me. Are you in AZ? I plan to live in tucson. Work corrections, since I have 3 years exp as an LVN though dont know if that would count.

Hey silverdragon. I have a question. In my CGFNS report my name does not include my middle name. Will that affect my application to the board if the app includes my middle name? Same social and address and DOB. Except the middle name.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

You should be ok as long as first and surname match :)

What a relief. Thank you. So send the app with the middle name?

If all your classmates got their ATT's in AZ then you should have zero problems with getting yours and assumes that none of your classmates played around with their schedules to meet the concurrency issues that's been happening overseas.

Ahh yes finally got my ATT and scheduled my nclex august 20th. Working on my kaplan qbank right now and getting scores between 60 and 80%. Hopefully I do well with the NCLEX.

hey Joshbert! glad to know you had your ATT. I'm from the Philippines too. I graduated march 2012 and do not have experience as a nurse. USC. Do they still require a minimum of 960 hours for foreign educated applicant? Thanks!

hi josh! i'm here in arizona too. i was about to pay for the cgfns-ces but then i found out that there is also a concurrency issue here. it's frustrating because we (my husband and I) thought it was only in california and that was partly the reason why we moved. Do you think i should proceed with Arizona? what did the representative for international graduates say? im just completely lost right now. i worked in the philippines as a nurse for a year, does that help?
