Aria School of Nursing September 2012

Published

Hi all, I'm new to this site (just joined today). But I've been lurking for a few weeks. I'm applying for the Aria Health SON and would love to meet others who are applying for the September 2012 academic year.

Specializes in ORTHO, TRAUMA, MED-SURG, L&D, POSTPARTUM.

@ Ayanna. I didn't get the meningoccal vaccine ... they were already shooting me up with Hep B the TB test, the rubella vac, and drawing blood for titers...I was like this is too much!!! I'm one of those people that wants the bare minimum. Last year was the first time I got the flu shot because I worked in a hospital.

@ Amber I got the PSU email but I also don't know what credits are being transfered in. It's hard to knock out two trimesters if you don't know what will transfer. I have like 70+ credits...and I'm hoping at least micro, anatomy and physio will all transfer. those would kill me to retake them. Hopefully they will post this information soon. Thank you for reminding me I need to set up my PSU account by the 30th. Orientation is Aug 1,2,3 ....does anyone know the times for this? I would like to know also.

@ Bumblee. Oh it sounds like you will be us leaving soon. How will we survive w/o your guidance? Lol. Will you be doing any courses or the capstone in Sept? Is it possible to buy lab coats, or the community shirts from students that are leaving?

Has anyone got their financial aid award letter? When can we expect to get aid by? I have to wait for my husbands taxes to come back before I can complete the verification process and get my award letter. I have no clue what the school is going to cover or when I should expect it to get financial aid. We wont have to pay school fees/tuition when we register for classes right?

Ummm...financial aid is dispersed on the first day of class. I'm not sure which one of my packets said orientation starts at 8am. ( I'll check later.) I believe we only have to pay for uniforms at orientation, and the medical supplies if you choose to get them from the school.

I'm wondering how did Kristin's transfer class get posted and no one else's, I want to know what classes transferred...lol.

soon yes but im going into 311 in september and ill start capstone in december. i havent heard of anyone selling those things to used....

and dont worry, you wont miss me :p once you start school, you will forget all about this website :)

My transfer courses are finally listed, but my chemistry and abnormal psychology aren't listed.

33 credits transfered so far...

Thanks for posting that Ayanna! It made me check and my credits transferred too! They didn't take my chem either but all of my humanities electives are thankfully out of the way.

Julie emailed me...they don't list chemistry on the profiles because its a pre-req (like bumblebee stated) and my abnormal psych didn't transfer because I took a 200 level course, and psu has a 400 level course.

abnormal psychology is given as a 4 credit course at penn state as opposed to our community colleges etc. where it is a 3 credit course. they wont accept it unless it is 4 credits. You have to take it again. I know some of you will be upset, i've seen fellow classmates really upset too, but it gets you no where because thats just how it is. *shrug*

What is math 35? I didn't even pay it any attention and just noticed it.

Its called Mathematicial Ideas. The dumbest class ever with the cutest teacher

Yay! 34 credits transfered not including chemistry. Kinda funny but I didn't expect my Public Speaking class to get accepted as CAS 100 and Photography as an Arts Elective. I'm relieved they accepted my anatomy, physio and micro.. phew!

I was hoping they would accept my English 1B (equivalent to English 202B Writing in Humanities) as English 202A Writing in Social Sciences. I mean come on---isn't it close enough? Aria also didn't accept my nutrition class. I read on one Aria blog about you might get them to accept it if you can prove your nutrition class was taught by a Registered Dietitian. Is this true? Because I think I need one more class transfered to knock off 2 trimesters! :D

Also does anyone think that History of Western Civilization would count as a humanity elective?

That is so weird that with such a close equivalent course they wouldnt accept your Eng 1B. I wish I could have taken nutrition but the class was being taught by a chiropractor. I was suprised that precalc and algebra didn't knock out math 35.

@Bumblebee thanks for the response. Is math 35 very study intensive? Also since you skipped two rotations do you have a break before graduation and graduate with the class you entered with or do you graduate with the class that came in right before you?
