Hi all, I'm new to this site (just joined today). But I've been lurking for a few weeks. I'm applying for the Aria Health SON and would love to meet others who are applying for the September 2012 academic year.
good news, you dont do lookup your first semester (unless they changed it). You will be working w/ old people and doing vital signs (b/p, temp, respirations, pulse ox) CNA work...bed baths, making beds, helping brush dentures, change depends etc. when you go in the hospital in 111, then u will do look up the day before clinical. each clinical instructor varies w/ how much work they want u to put into their careplans. in the begining it may take you up to 2 hours to gather your information at the hopsital. since u are new at everything, it will take longer. when u get the hang of it, it may take an hour. THEN you have to go home and complete this careplan, and look up all meds. The time for this varies from semester to semester but i'd say 111 or 210 it may take you anywhere from 3-5 hours to complete. Im in 310 and my instructor wants very in depth careplans. My first patient in ICU had a lot going on. It took me 2 1/2 hours to do lookup (longest ive ever done)...there were many abnormal labs, tests, meds etc going on for me to go through and write down. When I got home i think i put about 6 hours of work into it. Then i finished it when i got home from clinical the next day. My care plans are usually between 6-10 hrs of work NOT including lookup. So yes it is an all day thing or most of your day....
DID THAT HELP? lol
Hey everyone!
I can't believe July is almost here...it's getting so close! I was hoping to get some help with the scanning. For the medical packet, how did you guys upload those documents after scanning? Since there are multiple pages, did you just upload each page onto the certified profile.com? Or somehow make it one document as a PDF? Not a fan of this scanning thing!
Am I the only one having scanning issues..? haha
