Aria School of Nursing September 2012

Published

Hi all, I'm new to this site (just joined today). But I've been lurking for a few weeks. I'm applying for the Aria Health SON and would love to meet others who are applying for the September 2012 academic year.

My award letter says send back by 6/18....

There are two fax numbers listed 215-710-3541 and 215-710-3542

Thanks! Hmm that's interesting, my award letter said send back by 6/11.

Has anyone done their CPR training yet?

So to fellow NJ Aria nursing students, can anyone recommend a company that has student health insurance (typically way cheaper than average plans). The insurance plans listed in the handbook seem to be geared towards PN residents and will not give me insurance benefits since I live in NJ. :(

That deadline is coming up soon and I've hit this roadblock. Never thought student health insurance would be difficult to find...but then again...NJ makes everything more difficult than it needs to be.

@ Holly,

I went through the same struggle of finding insurance. Apparently our insurance is so much higher because of legislation that prevents them from denying coverage for preexisting conditions. Unfortunately, that means higher insurance and less discounts for us. The only thing I was able to do was go with Aetna's EPO plan, and even that is costly at about $212 a month. It's so crazy! I'm just awaiting the open enrollment at my husband's job and will go under his insurance. Hang in there, I know it's crazy.

i found some crap after hours and hours on the internet. its like $1400 a year. i tried to use it when in the ER w/ a kidney stone and my bill says they couldnt identify my policy number. i couldnt even tell u the real name of my insurance becuz theres like 3 different names. so confusing. i just had to get it so i had something to show i had insurance. its a mess

Yes after days on the internet I found one nj insurance policy that is only for students, it covers only sickness and injury and costs $90/month. But it doesn't cover anything I ever need insurance for like well visits, ob/gyn visits, shots...so its basically useless to me unless I end up in th ER...and even then it only pays 70% of the costs. I saw the Atena plan too but $200 is way too much for me to justify the 4 times/yr I go to the doctor for birth control. It only costs $45 for a depo shot! I dont go to the doctor unless im deathly sick or have a bad case of poisen oak. Insurance is such a rip off! I can wait for Obamas health insurance exchange to kick in! It will be the best reality check the corrupt insurance companies ever had!

i use planned parenthood. they dont even want your insurance card when you are a full time nursing student. you get the discount

Hi Bumblebee do you happen to when the fall class list is going to be posted? I see the nursing courses are listed, but not psu classes.

nope. it should be soon tho. i usually stalk sonis and one day it appears

I was wondering what I'm going to do about insurance as well. I currently have blue cross through my employer, but I have to work a min of 30hrs. I'm trying to wrap my head around what's the best possible shedule for me to allow adequate study time. Or should I reduce my work hrs and try to find an affordable individual policy.

Tell me about it, I've been stalking it for the last two weeks...lol. psu registrar has what classes are going to be available, but not the days and time.

Its really up to you. Everyone responds to nursing individually. I know people who work full time and still get better grades than me, and im not working full time. Other people that are working f.t. struggle to pass. So like i said, everyones experience is different. You may work the 30 hrs every week and do fine, just be tired alot. If u really want to keep your job, i would try it for the first semester and see how you feel about it.
