Are we still in high school?

This is my first post. I've been trying to determine the best course of action in dealing with a fellow nurse who for reasons unbeknowst to me does not like me. I was told by a fellow RN that this nurse has been going around the facility we both work at and stating i have been stealing Narcotics. I have never had narcotics go missing on my shift and i have never tested dirty. I spoke with my direct supervisor who stated she would deal with the problem but they are friends and nothing has come of it. People have told me i shouldnt be concerned if its not true but this is my reputation. I'm not sure where to go with this problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would politely ask to speak with her in a private area and ask her point blank "I've heard that you have stated that I am taking/stealing medications/narcotics and I would like to clarify if this is true or not".

This is your livelihood. If this were being allowed to happen, even though the supervisor may have addressed the issue already, I would be looking for another place of employment because who knows what else is being allowed to go on that you haven't come across yet! Best of luck to you in a challenging situation.

Gotta nip this in the bud. Not only is this hurting you in your current position, but everyone who hears this nonsense will remember your name and may cause issues with you later on by spreading this fallacy.

Use your Chain of Command, or Line of Support for some, and go to the next person if your issue is not resolved. You may even have a legal case for slander if nothing has been done.

Hope this issue resolves in the best possible way.

I would never confront her alone -only in presence of supervisor. She needs to go to staff members and apologize for her slander.

Do you have any friends who are lawyer's or even find a private practice attorney and pay them for an hour of their time. They can draft a "cease and desist" letter which can be delivered to the nurse in question at work during her/his shift. It'll will cost you a few hundred bucks but might be well worth it.

I'm sure your facility has a Human Resources, that's what they're there for. You can bypass your ineffective manager and I'm not sure about pulling this hostile nurse aside for a one to one either. A lawyer is overdoing it a bit, if you have to start hiring lawyers for coworkers talking smack then please just find another job. HR, can't stress it enough.
