I have a 6 yr old and a 3 year old and a stay-at-home mother. Husband is in Navy. I'm thinking of taking the LPN Online Course as it would be most convienant for me, but I'm not sure if it will be as benaficial as going to a classroom. What do you experienced nurses think?

What online LPN course? I don't believe that one exists, except in OK, and you need to live there.
I went to www.nursingdegreeonline.com and it gives a plethera of advice. I have to find out which schools my state (TX) approves of.
There's so much information and I must admit I feel overwhelmed with the unknown. Where did you begin your nursing career?

This course is for people who are RNs. You have to find a LVN or RN program in TX. Good luck!

I see that no one was able to answer your question. I have the same delima i am a lpn and i had a 5month old and preg. now, I want to take online class but i'm not sure if i'ts not more difficult! Can any one give me some avice. P.S. has any nurses gone through Excelsior College?
I did Excelsior. go to Distance Learning and browse around.
However, Excelsior is LPN to RN, NOT off-the-street to LPN.
i am an Lic. practical nurse, and i would like to take excelsior program. Is that a good program?
I'm just beginning my research of where to get started as far as shool. I'm in TX, so I have to go to school to get a LVN License. So found a vocationl school to do that and from there I'll go to LPN. I'm interested in the route you took as far as online course. What did you do for hands on ? Was it via web cam or did you have to go to a hospital? Thanks for responding.
I actually attended a lpn school in Alabama so i have a Lic. And now I'm trying to get me RN. I have a 5month old and pregnant again. And i want to take RN classes online.
maria, you will have to do excelsior or maybe Indiana State University if its approved in your state. Please go to the distance learning forum for more information.
Maria, I did Excelsior and it's an excellent program. But you must be very self-motivated and able to learn without instructors.
Freshstart, an LPN is an LVN. In Texas and Cali, you are an LVN. The other states use LPN.
The online was NO hands on except for a very rigorous exam at the end, in a hospital, with patients. The assumption is that you are already a working nurse and know fundmental nursing skills.
