  1. I'm considering going to SPC and was wondering if there was a rating system for the best professors? What is the schools graduate success rate? Once you get your LVN what degree will you go for? How long is the LVN course?
  2. Hello, I considering taking up nursing and researching everyones messages about school and I was wondering if it would be okay if a person records the lectures in class? 9 pages of notes. WOW! I'm terrible at taking notes and think recording would be most helpful.
  3. I'm considering going to school for nursing and I have a 3 & 6 yr old. My 3 yr old stays home with me, but I was wondering how you're doing with juggling school, studing, and being a mommy? How do you find the time to study??
  4. i'm considering going to school for nursing. i'm 37 and a mother of 2 and want to do something for me. it's been yrs since i was n school and i don't have any clue about the prereq. i don't want this to hender me, but i wonder if there is a way i can study up on the subjects i need before i join school or should i just bite the bullet? the math equasion you just gave looks foreign to me and i couldn't make any since of it. now i'm wondering if i should even go to school. what are some ways you retained your information?
  5. I was considering the same. I have a 3 and 6 yr old and was wondering how your online course is going? Was it a good idea and do you have someone to ask questions to? Are you able to do it at your own pace or no?
  6. For the Excelsior Online program, did you need to take a test to see what your GPA was before beginning? What was the success rate of graduating students? What did you do for practical work? Work in a hospital or via web cam ( as I've read) some online courses do? How was the support as far as when you had questions or something?
  7. Yes; I'd like to be a LVN/LPN first to get the basics, but I was told TX and CA you need a LVN License before going for the LPN course. I'm calling my Vocationl School Monday and I'm sure my path will be clearer. I'm reading different nursing books to get an idea of what they do and what I'll have to learn.
  8. Being in TX, I will have to get a LVN License before I can take a LPN course. The only anxiety have is making the grade. So much materal and math to learn. It makes me question whether I should invest my money in this college. I have a 3 and 6 yr old and a stay=at-home mom on one income. Still undecided........
  9. I'm just beginning my research of where to get started as far as shool. I'm in TX, so I have to go to school to get a LVN License. So found a vocationl school to do that and from there I'll go to LPN. I'm interested in the route you took as far as online course. What did you do for hands on ? Was it via web cam or did you have to go to a hospital? Thanks for responding.
  10. I went to www.nursingdegreeonline.com and it gives a plethera of advice. I have to find out which schools my state (TX) approves of. There's so much information and I must admit I feel overwhelmed with the unknown. Where did you begin your nursing career?
  11. I have a 6 yr old and a 3 year old and a stay-at-home mother. Husband is in Navy. I'm thinking of taking the LPN Online Course as it would be most convienant for me, but I'm not sure if it will be as benaficial as going to a classroom. What do you experienced nurses think?
  12. Thank you for the great suggestion. It makes since to volunteer and test the waters before jumping in.
  13. I'm a stay-at-home mother of a 3 yr old and a 6 yr old and husband is in the Navy. We live on a single income and I'm turning 37 yrs today. I want a career and am thinking about my future. Problem is; I'm not 100% sure what I want to do. I never had the desire to be a nurse one day, but I feel by working out of a hospital atmosphere like a Doctors office, would be something I'd prefer much more. I would start out a LVN then work my way up, but my other anxiety is, how in the world does a person absorb all that material? Since I have my 3 yr old to take care of, would it be in my best interest to take a 1-yr online course? The medical field is a new world to me. I'm on the fence about this I don't want to NOT pursue this field out of fear of failing when I could actually be good at it..........
