Hello,
I would like some information on the program, how do you like it? Would you pick this school again if you had the chance? I am applying to the program that is being held here in San Diego. I am nervous about the online portion of the program, is it do-able?
Thanks!
One exam down- not sure how many to go. There was a ton of reading for this exam, but all the hard work paid off! I felt there were some challenging questions, but all in all it went really well. I really like the program so far, too. The current students and administrators weren't joking when they said it was fast paced! But everyone has been so helpful and encouraging. It's been really great. We start clinicals this week so it will be interesting to see how that affects our schedule.
Hope everyone is having a great week!
You wouldn't believe how busy we are! Our first exam is Tuesday so we are busily trying to get through all of the readings. So far so good though, I really like how things are unfolding and I'm finally getting used to everything. Must get back to the reading!

Yes, one down, a gazillion to go! Woohoo!! I am so happy that first one is behind us. I agree, everyone has been wonderful and I feel so fortunate to have the group I have! Can't wait to start clinicals, I'm scared about time management, etc but I think it should be fun!
Nikki15-I saw your post about taking courses at ccc online. I looked it up and found an online college in colorado--is that the one?? I am curious how you do the lab portion of A&P. I just took the 1st one at a local JC, but I have to take the 2nd one still. I have little ones and I work also, so the idea of not having to go to class is intriguing! The course I took was hybrid--lecture online and lab in class. But they don't offer II that way, so it is going to be more challenging.
Any info you can offer is great!

You're exactly right! The website is ccconline.org. It's so convenient! The classes are 10 or 15 weeks. I have taken both, and it's not too much of a difference in the workload. I'm taking A&P I and II right now and it's going good so far. It is a lot of work, you just have to stay on top of it. The lab portion is just like a normal lab, you just do it at home. I ordered a Lab Paq from At Home Science...it comes with your lab manual and everything you will need. (Pig is in the garage, tightly wrapped and sealed)! It's different, but for me, has been a lifesaver! Let me know how it goes! Nikki
Are you applying to University of Oklahoma when you're done with your prereq's?
Nikki15 I also sent you a email with some questions I am not sure you got....
did you take any other prereq online?
also I was asking you some questions about how you are handling studying and the kids etc...I also have a 27 mo old child and I am due in July with #2 so I want to get some ideas how other mommas are doing this hahaha
thanks
Yes, I'm planning to apply to the University of Oklahoma program in San Diego. I think the earliest I could start is summer or fall of 09. I might decide to have my 3rd and final baby and then start in Spring of 2010.
I work pretty much full-time right now and I have a 4.5yr old and a 1yr old--so my hands are full! I'm trying to take statistics online this summer and it's really challenging me.
I am definately going to look into that course. Is the cost similar to taking it at a jr. college?

Laura-i do most of my work at night after the kids are in bed! I am pretty strict with bedtimes to this works for me. I can usually get in around 2hrs per night...and then on weekends I will get away for a while when my husband is home. I have to let other things go a bit sometimes--like housework, but my husband understands and supports that my classes have to be a priority.
thanks
I guess I also will be ready probably for Spring 2010 ....if I start classes this Fall....it is good you are strict with bedtime I wish I was but my son does not want to sleep till close to 10 pm ....and in July I will have another little one
you are lucky your husband is supportive ...not to say mine is not but he thinks I should not go back to school ...he says since he knows me I've been in school

Hey does anyone know what specific CPR class that you need to take before being admitted into the OUBSN program in SD? I'm assuming its the healthcare provider cpr course, but is there a specific place that you need to take it at?
You need to take a BLS course but I would wait until you get close to starting because even though it is good for two years, laws mandate that you renew the course every year. So definitely wait until you get closer to starting. You can do it anywhere, I found a place online that was a little cheaper than the hospitals. Do a google search. Good luck!

Hi! I'm not sure. Has anyone found out if they have been accepted for the August start date?
