Hi, I live in Australia and wondering if nurses are commissioner of oaths? Thanks

I don't know what the official title might denote, but I have "commissioned" a multitude of oaths while working as a nurse.

I think they are the equivalent of a notary public in the US.

We are not notary's. That is not part of the license. We cannot make your letter official by stamping/signing it.

No we are not in the US unless we go thru certain steps.
In New York City, if you are not a lawyer or work as a law clerk with a lawyer, you have to meet certain criteria, take an exam to obtain a certificate of fitness and be approved by the city council.

In Australia, it looks like nurses are included in the professions permitted to witness statutory declarations, but affidavits must be witnessed by a lawyer, notary public, court clerk, etc.
